I didn't say that was what you were talking about. I said lots just did not agree with your point.
Then pointed out some of the reasons they might not agree.
Personally it was meh. Were we great? No, but neither was he. It was business. He made a very high cost proposal. By the time of this meeting he knew we were going to say no, everyone did, I know he did because several people told his rep exactly that. The opportunity was there to table. He chose to push his luck.
My example about the corvette is a very common example across both business and personal purchases. "Oh we love it!" ..."Wait you said how much" ... "Whispers amongst selves 'that's way to much, we are way to far apart to waste time negotiating'"... "We're gonna pass". Happens every day. If the last stage even happens. Most people don't get even that, they just don't get a return call. I've been on both sides of that scenario for 30ish years. Nothing unusual or shitty about it.

I see both sides and point out things on both.
It is a good idea. I spoke highly of it in Phoenix. I thought the ask was a bit high, but honestly thought he was spitballing and his real proposal would be somewhat lower. Then I talked to people I know who make a living in marketing on local and national levels. As I said in our off list discussion they came back with a substantially lower number for what they would charge for a similar offer.
Just because I like and really want that corvette for sale out there does not mean I am not going to check blue book on it before I drop cash on it, and if book value is substantially lower I may not come back knowing we are too far apart.
I also agreed with you that asking what was going on with it was reasonable because apparently last time there was some confusion and some info we did not all have, tho I do not think it would have changed the outcome.
I like his idea. I would love to pursue it further. After due diligence at about 1/10 of his ask. Unless he DRAMATICALLY increases his amount of consulting hours. Also after we get our ducks in a row budget wise.
We rail against Ds and Rs deficit spending, I for one am not going to be a hypocrite and support a deficit budget. Especially for that, if I was I would have pushed it elsewhere anyway, like ballot access or keeping at least 2 more great employees at full time.
While yes this is branding, it also falls deep into candidate support, so maybe fundraising that to help?
Also, I was led to believe that his team had leads on people willing to donate to fund it - part of the reason I misunderstood their desire to table it - if that is the case perhaps we need to let them do that before we reconsider the project. If they showed up with 30k worth of committed donors that would change a lot of minds.

I agree with Ms. Bilyeu.
I'll add that we are nearly $100,000 behind on bills, so my preference
is that we not pursue supplemental expenses or staff activity
directives that are not fundraising related, at least until our bill
backlog is stabilized. All new initiatives involve some amount of risk
and I personally prefer we be risk-averse until we are no longer doing
the equivalent of putting the electric bill into the water company
envelope each month.
Marketing initiatives are at best indirectly related to fundraising,
and it's hard for me to see how this campaign will generate more
revenue than its costs (both dollar and staff time) in the near future
even if the costs are minimal. If we have $40,000 to burn let's hire
another full time fundraiser to work the phones.

revenue than its costs (both dollar and staff time) in the near
future
even if the costs are minimal. If we have $40,000 to burn let's
hire
another full time fundraiser to work the phones.

The LNC formally rejected the original proposal.
As far as I see it, I'm waiting on Koerner to get back

a
reasonable proposal stemming from the feedback he has

Until I see another proposal, I don't have anything

Nope Caryn Ann. Just several people do not agree with it.

Nope Caryn Ann. Just several people do not agree with it.
I see both sides and point out things on both.
It is a good idea. I spoke highly of it in Phoenix. I thought the ask
was a bit high, but honestly thought he was spitballing and his real
proposal would be somewhat lower. Then I talked to people I know who
make a living in marketing on local and national levels. As I said in
our off list discussion they came back with a substantially lower
number for what they would charge for a similar offer.
Just because I like and really want that corvette for sale out there
does not mean I am not going to check blue book on it before I drop
cash on it, and if book value is substantially lower I may not come
back knowing we are too far apart.
I also agreed with you that asking what was going on with it was
reasonable because apparently last time there was some confusion and
some info we did not all have, tho I do not think it would have changed
the outcome.
I like his idea. I would love to pursue it further. After due
diligence at about 1/10 of his ask. Unless he DRAMATICALLY increases
his amount of consulting hours. Also after we get our ducks in a row
budget wise.
We rail against Ds and Rs deficit spending, I for one am not going to
be a hypocrite and support a deficit budget. Especially for that, if I
was I would have pushed it elsewhere anyway, like ballot access or
keeping at least 2 more great employees at full time.
While yes this is branding, it also falls deep into candidate support,
so maybe fundraising that to help?
Also, I was led to believe that his team had leads on people willing to
donate to fund it - part of the reason I misunderstood their desire to
table it - if that is the case perhaps we need to let them do that
before we reconsider the project. If they showed up with 30k worth of
committed donors that would change a lot of minds.

Presumably a counter offer was made with those requests or

The LNC formally rejected the original proposal.
As far as I see it, I'm waiting on Koerner to get back to us
with
a
reasonable proposal stemming from the feedback he has
already
received.
Until I see another proposal, I don't have anything more to
discuss on
this because the original was rejected. I would rather the
LP
hold a
contest to come up with voluntarily submitted branding ideas
rather
than pursue this idea where the contract was unreasonable
and no
response is being made to our public comment and our input
for a
renegotiation. Either Koerner wants to pursue this or not, I
will
not
be further pursuing it for him.
If the lack of negotiation stems from nobody on our end
formally
reaching out and negotiating the contract with him, despite
his
efforts, that is very irresponsible but the only person
charged
to do
that from this body is Nick and I trust he has done what he
has
been
charged with. I also trust that he hasn't gotten responses
which
is why
nothing else has come before the body.
I am very open and willing to discuss other proposals he
brings
forth,
however, at this time, there is nothing on the table.

Unless there is a new proposal on the table, I don't see what
there is
to discuss. The LNC rejected the original proposal, and no one
offered
amendments. It seems there is little to no overall interest in
furthering this.

As I think I made clear during our last meeting, I was really unhappy with
how we handled this (praxis, not necessarily the result). Where are we
at? Is the Chair still engaging in negotiations? I ask that this be added
to the e-agenda for the January meeting.

Agreed. I have suggested a competition many times.
I like Robin's idea a lot, but not the proposal.
I am with Caryn Ann in asking for info tho. Even those of us in the email chain last time somehow got lots of info left out.

Here's my perspective:
A proposal was brought forth.
LNC discussed and gave feedback as to several changes that each of us would
be more likely to consider.
Presumably a counter offer was made with those requests or thoughts.
The LNC formally rejected the original proposal.
As far as I see it, I'm waiting on Koerner to get back to us with a
reasonable proposal stemming from the feedback he has already received.
Until I see another proposal, I don't have anything more to discuss on this
because the original was rejected. I would rather the LP hold a contest to
come up with voluntarily submitted branding ideas rather than pursue this
idea where the contract was unreasonable and no response is being made to
our public comment and our input for a renegotiation. Either Koerner wants
to pursue this or not, I will not be further pursuing it for him.
If the lack of negotiation stems from nobody on our end formally reaching
out and negotiating the contract with him, despite his efforts, that is
very irresponsible but the only person charged to do that from this body is
Nick and I trust he has done what he has been charged with. I also trust
that he hasn't gotten responses which is why nothing else has come before
the body.
I am very open and willing to discuss other proposals he brings forth,
however, at this time, there is nothing on the table.

this be added to the e-agenda for the January meeting.

For those interested in helping out, and at least being aware of the
unique opportunity we have in Rhode Island.
Bill Hunt ran as a Libertarian for State Representative in 2018
receiving 35.3% of the vote against a Progressive Democrat that
immediately turned around and resigned after winning triggering a
special election at the beginning of 2019.
In 2018, Bill had the endorsement's of the local Republican Town
Committees in the district AND The Incumbent Democrat who wasn't in the
race.
Bill has declared his intent to run in the special election as a
Libertarian, and LPRI is rallying around him, and building a fully
staffed campaign team to make it happen this time. The Primary will be
on February 5th (To weed down the democrat field) and the General
Election will be on March 5th. Right now, there is no Republican in the
race, and No republican candidate even expressing interest, and the
local Republican Committees in the district have already expressed
support for Bill Hunt.
This is a huge race for LPRI, as it is the only election happening at
the time in the entire state, and they've already begun receiving media
coverage and acknowledgement for involvement.
With our current budget woes, I'm not going to ask the LNC to contribute
party funds to Help the campaign, but I AM going to ask every member of
the LNC to help pitch in when possible when it comes time to phone bank,
fundraise, and help LPRI Elect a Libertarian State Rep.
Bill still has his Campaign site and infrastructure in place from the
2018 run to transition to this special election, and can be viewed at
https://hopewithhunt.com/ and his facebook is
https://www.facebook.com/HopeWithHunt/
If anyone wants to communicate with Bill's Campaign Manager, Mike
Rinaldi, I would be happy to introduce and set that up. Mike also serves
as Vice Chair of LPRI.

Happy to do a press release. We have sent a lot of very good ideas to
our press secretary lately and he is working on multiple of them.
Please keep in mind that multiple of our staff are working part time,
