Diane Russell (D-39) and former Sen. Dick Woodbury (I-11). Both were proponents of ranked-choice voting in the state legislature, but their bills never passed.[6] Rep. Russell, speaking about Question 5, said, "I think the voters are hungry for a system that allows them to vote their hopes." Former Sen. Woodbury said, "Under the current ‘winner-take-all-system,’ the entire system is about polling and spoilers. For the most part I try to seriously focus on issues when talking with supporters of the statist cartel candidates about the election, but once in a while I can't resist getting in some digs... Lack of Follow-Through?

It seems to me that we have a lack of follow-through. I was looking for a past decision on our Party slogan made by Norm, and ran across this: OUTREACH MATERIAL Mr. Olsen moved that the LNC Chair is requested to direct staff to produce outreach materials for use by the national office and all Libertarian National Committee affiliates concerning the following topics: the economy (regulation, national debt, crony capitalism, Federal Reserve), civil & property rights (justice system, civil forfeiture, police violence), the War on Terror, gun rights. Following debate, the vote on the main motion was as follows: Voting “aye”: Feldman, Goldstein, Hagan, Johnson, Lark, Marsh, Mattson, McLendon, Olsen, Redpath, Sarwark, Vohra, Wiener Voting “no”: Katz, Riemers Abstaining: Ludlow _________________ Was this even done? It seems to have fallen into the institutional black hole like the discussion at the last formal meeting to reach out to Log Cabin Republicans, which does not appear to have ever been done. (And I asked on this list later about it, and didn't get a response) Shouldn't things passed be on some kind of followup list? Our LPTexas Secretary keeps a reference manual that lists every motion passed on a continuing basis. That document is updated regularly, and posted on our SLEC forum. If LNC doesn't already have such a thing, I could provide the template, if the LPTexas Secretary is OK with that... In the wake of what can charitably called “one of the most interesting run-ups to an election in living memory”, our campaign has several ideas for some targeted advertising in the run up to a televised debate (Sun. In addition to being likely, the paper notes that it will may not favor a republican depending on the outcome of the election. That brings us to: “You don’t need to outrun the bear; you just have to outrun whoever is near you.” To that end, we don’t need to win this first ballot, we just need a fighting chance at the second one. To get to the second ballot, the runoff, we just need to not come in third on the first ballot. We are confident that Buckley’s debate performance will woo voters, and we are hopeful that the more people who hear his message of fiscal responsibility and freedom will pull the lever for Buckley and help #BuckTheSystem. For that we have an aggressive, but lean, media strategy planned. Voters should not need a clothespin to vote. We are hoping to reach out to many would-be republican voters and show them they can be true to their values, their ideals, and vote for a fiscal conservative, and not have to “hold their nose” in the voting booth. At the same time, we hope our message on social justice and governmental non-inference will resonate with the “never Hillary” crowd of Democrats and disaffected Bernie Sanders voters. We also feel that most libertarians would stick with us through both rounds of balloting. Better ideas. Better candidate. Minimum cost. Maximum impact. That is the plan in a nutshell. Pull a few voters from each side in the first ballot, enough to edge out Barksdale(D) who no one expects to win in Georgia regardless; then get into a one-on-one with Isakson(R) and attempt to wrest those “never Trump” voters, actual fiscal conservatives, and others to Buckley’s cause, while encouraging the democrats who (in this scenario) don’t have a dog in this race, to come out and vote because let’s face it, a loss for the Republican, is as good as a win for the democrats at this point (especially if it means the senate does not stay in Republican hands). Any resources you can send our way to affect this outcome would be greatly appreciated, and would certainly help to bolster the Libertarian brand. We, of course, are also interested to hear any input you may have on the election. Thank you.
