[Lpk-execomm] Fall 2020, win at the door

When I ran for State Chair almost two years ago, I told the membership in the room that I was running on letting the affiliates do their own thing. I meant it. I think it’s important. And it is how I have handled things to date. It may seem hands off, but the fact is that we do things best when they are handled at the local level.

But this fall is a critical event: we have candidates up and down the ballot, but by far, the biggest race we have is the President race. And we need 2% to retain ballot access.

That is going to require a level of involvement that we haven’t done before. It’s going to require more than social media and monthly meetups.

It’s going to require a win at the door campaign. I am going to ask each District Chair, and our D5 coordinator, to get with their committee and get me a plan for a door to door campaign in your district by September 5, 2020. You can email it to this list.

The plan should cover how you will solicit volunteers and any volunteers you have to date, when they will knock, where they will knock assuming we’re can’t hit the entire district (cities and spaces where homes are close together are ideal and if you think particular neighborhoods are likely to yield good returns) any coordination with downticket candidates, and when you will start. We need to have boots on the ground in October and probably earlier.

We will also look to coordinate with the campaign, and will be organizing phone banking.

If there are questions, let me know. If you need help, let me know. This is a critical time.

Thanks,
