Just my opinion. I think we need to recognize that we need independent and moderate voters to move toward our philosophy in order for the Libertarian Party and our agenda to gain traction. Publishing this resolution could adversely affect that goal. My reasoning is, while we agree on opposing welfare payments to foreign nationals, we are resolving to lift all restrictions on immigration prior to finalizing the removal of welfare payments. Lifting all restrictions would cause a risk that criminals and child sex traffickers’ would have unfettered access to anywhere. These folks are not libertarians and won’t care that they are impeding on the rights of others. And they do exist. No one really knows the numbers, but it is a concern regarding immigration policies.
I do not think this kind of social positioning would endear us to those we are trying to win over. We may gain the support of the Radical Caucus, that will not necessarily translate to the Libertarian Party getting into a position to make the changes and reforms we want to make. I get the Caucus’ position on not holding one harmful policy hostage for dealing with another, however there is validity for pragmatic steps to achieve our mission and goals.
My opinion, adopting the resolution would get press, but not the support and press we need to grow.

Subject: [LPGa Executive Committee] Radical Caucus Resolution Proposal
Hey Team,
I recently had a member of the Radical Caucus in Georgia reach out to me with a proposal for a resolution. I think we should discuss it before any kind of vote. Once someone feels strongly enough that we are ready to vote, we'll need a motion and a second.
"WHEREAS the Libertarian Party of Georgia condemns massive roundups by the federal government of Hispanic-Americans and others in a hunt for foreign nationals not possessing required government documents, and;
WHEREAS those suspected of being undocumented foreign nationals are denied the fundamental freedom to labor and to move about un-molested, and;
WHEREAS the Libertarian Party opposes welfare payments to foreign nationals just as we oppose welfare payments to all other persons;
THEREFORE, BE IT NOW RESOLVED THAT the Libertarian Party of Georgia calls for the lifting of all restrictions on immigration and for full amnesty for currently undocumented foreign nationals;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT we support the abolition of the Border Patrol and of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Ryan Graham
Chair, Libertarian Party of Georgia
