I vote no. A total ban on (say) hiring a spouse of a former regional alternate, or having to fire a staff member who becomes engaged to a sitting Judicial Committee member, without any ability to waive it, seems overkill. We'd end up having to repeal the language, which suggests we shouldn't have to pass it in the first place. There's also an issue of terms being used in the language without being defined. I'm happy to work with the mysterious author to perfect the proposal, although this week has been a bit busy. Actually, its been brought to my attention that I may have misread this as presented. I was under the impression that the intent was to have ineligibilities during the 12 months following an LNC tenure to be waivable by 3/4 vote of the LNC.
This version specifically prohibits employment whatsoever with no authority for the LNC to override it. My intent was NOT to bind the next LNC, but to put reateictions requiring a high barrier of institutional consent on current members seeking to leverage relationships in the future.
If I was mistaken in misreading this, I'm sorry, but I had thought the intent of my suggestions was clear in that matter.

Mr. O'Donnell and I worked on language for a similar proposal that I would be happy to share with the author of this proposal if they would like. I vote NO on this motion in its current form. --- Sam Goldstein, At Large Member Libertarian National Committee 317-850-0726 Cell On 2020-05-05 18:39, Joe Bishop-Henchman via Lnc-business wrote:

I did not write it. I agree with its contents however. If the author wishes to disclose identity they may. I will only speak for myself. Members are free to caucus and ask the Secretary to start a ballot if there are enough sponsors. Whether or not it’s a good idea is up to opinion but it is a member right and while not common, also not unheard of. If I am given a properly sponsored ballot it is my job to start a ballot. I vote no. With the base for decisions being "3/4 vote of entire LNC", an abstention has the same effect as a negative. But members should not vote on a question in which they have a direct personal or pecuniary interest not common to other LNC members. The member with a financial transaction is in the position of either effectively voting nay, or voting aye when having a direct personal interest.
