Dear LNC, I requested to view the recording of the CoC zoom from Monday night, and the CoC is arguing the tapes recording is confidential and that I must ask the LNC for permission to view it. This highlights again the need for a data security policy -- which I will write and present to the next LNC. In the meantime however can you please informally comment on whether or not the recording should be kept confidential from me, or if I am allowed to view it? --- Daniel Fishman Executive Director The Libertarian Party Join Us <http://www.lp.org/join>

The chair's email is interesting. I went back through piper mail to refresh my recollection on all of these water cooler conversations and see nothing of the sort. The vast majority was related to business, and separate business topics. Now the chair might not like the business discussed but that doesn't warrant the comments above. I was going to through and put actual email statistics to prove a point, but have more productive things to do. And certainly nothing that would fill up 15GB of Gmail storage. If the chair's email box was out of storage, there is maintenance to do that has nothing to do with LNC discussions while he was away. *In Liberty,* * Personal Note: I have what is commonly known as Asperger's Syndrome (part of the autism spectrum). We were told that Mr. Fishman just wants to watch Mr. Ferreira's demo of the app he is writing. Mr. Ferreira plans to do a larger demo of it this weekend, so just waiting a few days will result in getting to see a demo of the more complete feature set. Initially I only wanted to see the software demo, but when that was blocked I asked someone who was there why, and then became aware of something the policy manual REQUIRES me to investigate. Actually, I believe all members of the LNC are charged with enforcement of the policy manual. If nobody thinks anything happened that should be reported as a violation of the policy manual, then I would like to confirm that. I would assume that an LNC member concerned there was an ambiguity would err on the side of caution, so I just need to confirm the conflict between many people saying that nothing happened and the other report that I now have. Having worked in an administrative position for many years, I believe it's very important that matters like this be handled directly. I am baffled by the idea that I think there is something that must be investigated and being blocked from doing so, especially since this was a meeting ALL LNC members were invited to. I feel like I'm missing something here. On the surface, I don't see the problem with sharing the recording, that's why it exists, for reviewing the record. I have no idea what the policy manual violation may be and I missed the meeting so I have no opinion on that. In general, I am not sure that it is in the party's interest to keep something from the executive director except under very specific circumstances where they are the subject of investigation. Especially as it relates to the convention, is staff not helping with that and, by that logic, since the ExDir supervises staff should they not have access to all information where staff duties are discussed and delegated to ensure that employees are performing to expectation? I welcome more information and re-emphasize that I have no clue what all this is about. Dear LNC, I call your attention to the Policy Manual Section 2.01 OBLIGATIONS AMONG BOARD MEMBERS AND STAFF In particular to this part of subsection 4: " *In response to every complaint, LNC will take prompt and necessarysteps to investigate the matter and will protect the individual’s confidentiality, as much aspossible, recognizing the need to thoroughly investigate all complaints. LNC will takecorrective and preventative actions where necessary. LNC will not retaliate against anyindividual who in good faith brings a complaint to the attention of LNC or participates in aninvestigation regarding a complaint*." I have stated I am investigating a complaint. I am trying to protect everyone's confidentiality as much as possible. I don't understand an organization that impedes the investigation of a complaint by refusing to release video. Please direct the CoC to release the video I am requesting. --- Daniel Fishman Executive Director The Libertarian Party Join Us <http://www.lp.org/join> On Wed, Jun 17, 2020 at 11:48 PM <erin.adams@lp.org> wrote:

Okay this just took another turn. Here is what the PM says: Any violation of this policy should be brought to the attention of the Chair or the Vice Chair. In response to every complaint, the LNC will take prompt and necessary steps to investigate the matter and will protect the individual’s confidentiality, as much as possible, recognizing the need to thoroughly investigate all complaints. Why are you involved here? It is the Chair or Vice Chair that needs to be notified and the LNC that investigates. We have no idea what you are on about. If there is some complaint, you bringing this to the public list is highly inappropriate. Please take this off list and either let us know what the heck is going on or have the the chair or vice chair be notified and handle.

I reiterate my call for access to the recording.

Dear LNC,
I requested to view the recording of the CoC zoom from Monday night, and the CoC is arguing the tapes recording is confidential and that I must ask the LNC for permission to view it.
