Re: [Lnc-business] [Lnc-votes] Libertarian Youth Caucus Report
I actually don't think caucus reports are appropriate. But if this is going to be a practice, then the LPRC will submit one- not authored by me however since I am here to represent Region 1 - not just the radicals or any other speciality group. But I will certainly ask the Caucus Chair to do so. But I repeat - unless invited to do so by the LNC - I don't think Caucus reports are appropriate. I agree entirely. Caucuses do not report to the LNC; they exist to elect people to the LNC and influence the LNC. As far as I'm concerned, the response to being handed anything is "thank you," so thank you, but we needn't consider reports from entities that have no reason to report to us. If we do decide to receive reports from such entities, then I agree that we should not be discriminating. I don't mind getting the information; I'm talking only about formally receiving reports, including them in packets, posting on the website, etc. I'd oppose any motion to add reports from such entities to the agenda. Missing from the agenda, by the way, is the Sam Committee Report. Joshua A. Katz On Fri, Dec 9, 2016 at 4:57 PM, Caryn Ann Harlos <carynannharlos@gmail.com> wrote:

First - I love the Youth Caucus so much comments are not anything at all about that but I don't think we should start a practice of uploading caucus reports to this list. If so, expect a lot. On Friday, December 9, 2016, Joshua Katz <planning4liberty@gmail.com> wrote:

I agree with Caryn Ann and Joshua, and as is the case with them, I also mean no negativity towards Trent's effort and willingness to provide us with info. I have a similar position about asking for reports of the Platform/Bylaws/Credentials Committees in our meetings, which is why I make this comment at the start of every time these committees are asked to report to the LNC. These committees are created by and report to the convention delegates, not to the LNC. The LNC has a role in appointing some of the members of these committees, but that's it. I think they should only be on LNC agendas when the LNC is making its allotted appointments to them. The reports don't tend to burn a lot of time at our meetings, but it muddies the water for deciding what is/isn't LNC business. -Alicia On Fri, Dec 9, 2016 at 3:06 PM, Joshua Katz <planning4liberty@gmail.com> wrote:
