Attached are the draft minutes for the very brief 5/26/16 EC meeting. Absent objection from an EC member who attended, these minutes will auto-approve on June 16. All the EC members from last term are on the LNC again this term, so this email list reaches them all. For the benefit of newcomers to the LNC: We have a Policy Manual which contains the rules the LNC has set for itself in addition to the party bylaws. The Policy Manual can be found on our website at: http://www.lp.org/leadership/lnc-meeting-archives You don't need to memorize the thing, but you should at least take some time to be generally familiar with what is or isn't in there. Under Robert's Rules, there are different types of rules. The subject matter and other nature of the rule determines how the rule can be created, amended, or eliminated. Note the Policy Manual is divided into sections, with each section being a different type of rule. The introduction page to each section describes the types of rules in that section, how to adopt/amend them, and cross-references to Robert's Rules where you can find more information. One of the policies we have set for ourselves is how we adopt minutes. In particular for this set of Executive Committee minutes, you'll want to take note of Policy Manual Section 1.02.6, which states, in part: "Meeting minutes for Executive Committee meetings may be promoted from draft status to official during the time between Executive Committee meetings as follows: - Draft minutes for Executive Committee meetings shall be emailed to all LNC Members not more than 7 days after each meeting. <#_edn1> - Absent objection from an Executive Committee member who attended the meeting, the minutes shall be deemed to be approved 14 days after their distribution. <#_edn2> - Executive Committee minutes shall be distributed to all LNC Members and alternates within 7 days of such approval. The Secretary shall send an official copy of meeting minutes to staff within 7 days of the promotion of those minutes from draft to official status." -Alicia
