Two motions to amend the budget

I will have two motions to amend the budget during the Treasurer Report of the upcoming meeting. First is to increase the Capital Expenses by $7,500 for the purpose of purchasing a replacement copier and to decrease the 40-Administration Costs line by $5,000. Capital Expenses will become $52,716 and 40-Administration Costs will become $298,700. The lease on the copier expires at the end of May. Mr. Kraus has been working with copier vendors, and has a quote to purchase a Kon Minolta Bizhub copier for $7,306. Its brochure is attached. This copier is an upgrade from the current copier, can handle a higher volume, and has more features such as multi-page tri-folding. The monthly service/supply cost for our typical usage will drop from $649 to $231. The lease on the current copier is $508.24 per month. The decrease in Administration Costs is for these savings from June through December, minus depreciation on the copier. The second motion is to increase 75-Litigation by $4,000, making it $18,500. This is to pay for the taxed costs resulting from the lawsuit against Kentucky Educational Television (KET) over their debate criteria, which the LNC lost. -- Tim Hagan Treasurer, Libertarian National Committee

A couple of items concerning the upcoming LNC meeting

Dear colleagues: I hope all is well with you. I am writing to mention a couple of items concerning the upcoming LNC meeting. 1) I should be able to remain at the meeting throughout the day on Sunday. 2) I believe it would be worth our time during the meeting to discuss briefly what we wish to do concerning the 2020 census. As you may be aware, the Libertarian Party has conducted projects involving the census on several occasions. I have enclosed below a few references concerning such projects. Incidentally, National Census Day will take place on Wednesday, Apr. 1, 2020. As you may also be aware, there is considerable controversy about the proposed addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census. In addition, there is another issue involving a decision by the U.S. Census Bureau regarding protection of the confidentiality of the data released from the census.
