Hello all, I need to forgo the process for auto-approval due to unexpected life situations since the meeting involving my employment and computer problems necessitating having to heartbreakingly start from scratch at one point. You will have these draft minutes over the next few days and after incorporating any of your suggestions, I will put their approval as a motion during the Secretary's report at the December meeting. Some of you may have noted that the U-Stream recordings are pretty useless for after-the-fact viewing so while doing the minutes I am taking the time to rename each segment to be what is actually covered so that members (and us) can easily go to where we need rather than being faced with a wall of fifty videos in ten minute or so segments. Membership recruitment

I got about 12 new members in Mass. As convention season rolls around, I would like to be sent to western states (for cost purposes as it isn't cost effective for eastern states) to do the membership recruitment as I did last year. I recruited about 150 members during that time. Not all of them want to use the form, but sign up online either right there or the next day and let me know. I personally think the national party needs to send either a staffer or LNC member to each convention (which one depending on two factors - proximity to cut down travel costs and effectiveness at recruitment, though for those new at it, it takes a bit to get comfortable and learn) -- * In Liberty,* *Libertarian Party and Libertarian National Committee Secretary *- Caryn.Ann. Given the input here, and the withdrawal/postponement of the motion by JBH. I would like to see some time for this subject, and the various suggestions, on the agenda for our next meeting, either in December or if we do get an emeeting going. I know the call has not gone out for agenda items yet, but I do not want us to forget, particularly given the overwhelming support for something along these lines I have seen. I honestly had not expected things to move so quickly when I brought it up, and a postponement will allow people time to grieve and process without dealing with any negativity that may arise, unintentionally or otherwise, about the friend so many members have lost. These types of proposals subject the potential honorees to public scrutiny, and opens the doors to negative exposure, as well as positive. I think the Party is better served by not doing this for anyone. Nomination for the award may be more appropriate, as it would be for any of our activists, living or otherwise. Is the LP going to issue an opinion on this? It is the perfect opportunity to affirm rights while showing that rights are not the end all and be all to a healthy society. A society of peaceful bigots - for instance - is a sick society. So is a society that paternalistically protects us all from "those unfit to speak".
