I forgot to include this in my Ballot Access Committee report, but the Ballot Access Committee met telephonically once since the March 2015 LNC meeting, on April 12, 2015. Paul Frankel submitted the following notes from the call. Bill Redpath One addition. I can't remember it if we mentioned it on the call or not. Top Two Only has reared its ugly head in Florida and is paying for signatures. They have wealthy backers, so they have the resources to make the ballot. I though it was especially galling to see them have a loud public argument in front of the location as I walked up, as that could cause complaints and give them a reason to kick us all out permanently if we are "creating a disturbance." I pulled Andy away and got him out of there as fast as I could. But the positive thing we could do as a committee is help petition drives plan ahead by opening up as many locations as possible so petitioners don't compete over them as much. Oklahoma: If we manage to get a petition drive going, it would be awesome if there is any way to get it started soon - ideally right after Arkansas as we are right next door - as opposed to in the fall. One thing I did not mention on the call, fall will have more petition drives to compete with, particularly multiple initiatives in Mass (where Andy and Darryl will probably be and many others) and some other places. Not much else going on soon, though, as far as I know, so sooner would be better, although I do understand that there has to be time for fundraising also. On the lobbying side, what are the chances that the lobbyist would succeed if the LP hires him, in the opinion of the OK folks? Motion creating the committee: Bill read it during the call. Interesting that according to these minutes, of the two full LNC members of this ballot access committee, one voted against creating it and one abstained. Regarding the institutional knowledge portion of our scope, here is a video you may want to watch and share: Bill Redpath, Mark Axinn (state chair LPNY) and myself taught a class on petitioning and managing petition drives at the last LP national convention. I was sick that day but it could be useful to some people. There has been a significant dip in revenue and membership counts, but our costs have been reasonably contained and we are in reasonably strong financial shape overall. Our Total Net Assets at the end of 2014 were the highest in the 43 year history of the party (I'm pretty sure), mostly due to a bequest received. Total Net Assets are a bit lower at the end of June 2015, at around 566,000. We are not sitting on a lot of unrestricted cash. Instead, we have at times specifically raised for the purpose of making extra payments on our mortgage, and we have chosen for strategic reasons not to direct a major bequest immediately to certain potentially available cash positions. One advantage of having low cash positions is that we're not likely to spend large amounts on too many big ticket wild projects. *Pre-audit numbers for 2014. This will change a bit. Perhaps not surprisingly, at times when we had record amounts in the form of cash in our accounts also while I was serving as executive director, you probably also heard plenty of gloom and doom analyses. I expect membership to drift down further a bit for July and August, then to recover. Revenue for July is strong, and I expect revenue to continue to be strong in the short term if the Chair and Ballot Access Committee Chair continue to have success fundraising. I have hired someone as reported recently to help me with the messaging in the fundraising efforts. That may pay off. It will take time to find out. If any LNC members would like to help with fundraising phone calls, we can give you a list to work from. It's not easy, but works. Staff report & possible Who's Driving training at LNC meeting

Carla Howell is willing to conduct a session of the training with LNC members on sometime Sunday if LNC members are interested. optional social activities for LNC in Alexandria

I'd like to welcome members of the Libertarian National Committee to Alexandria this weekend. In addition to the official agenda, here are a few suggestions for things to do before and after the official meeting. For those of you arriving early enough on Friday, after checking into the hotel, you are welcome to come by the LPHQ to hang out, discuss, brainstorm, gossip, or whatever. I'll be here as well as other staff members probably until at least 7:30 PM. (See suggestion below about bringing beer or wine.) Below are a few places to consider eating that are very close by to your hotel and LP headquarters, and of course are in walking distance. *Table Talk Restaurant *(just across the street from the hotel and to the left) is a greasy spoon-style restaurant with a great breakfast, and sandwiches and things for lunch. _It closes a 3PM_. *La Porta's *(next door to the hotel) is more upscale and open for lunch and dinner. At 3 PM, happy hour starts, with half-priced bar menu items like hamburgers. *Whole Foods *and *Subway *Sandwiches is just down the street from the hotel. Regardless of where you might eat Friday, I suggest walking over to Whole Foods, picking up a 6-pack of beer or a bottle of wine, and then bringing it over the LP Headquarters (at 1444 Duke St.) to share with staff and any other guests that are here Friday afternoon and early evening. Left overs can be contributed to the Saturday night building headquarters anniversary celebration. Tim Hagan has been working to find people to go to a Friday night *baseball game *with him. Contact Tim if you are interested in that. Saturday will be a full day of the LNC meeting, followed by the LPHQ anniversary celebration <http://www.lp.org/blogs/staff/lphq-anniversary-party-on-july-18-see-video-f…>. On Sunday, depending on when things wrap up, if somebody has suggestions on group activities, feel free to propose them. Last year, several of us wandered over to the historic King Street, just a few blocks away, from the office, which is loaded with bars, restaurants, and shops. On Sunday, if there's enough interest, you might get a group together to visit the DC monuments, some of the Smithsonian museums in DC, or Mount Vernon which is just about 12 miles away (maybe a $30 cab ride split between whoever goes). While I enjoyed visiting Mount Vernon recently, it was quite hot the day I visited, so be prepared to check the weather and to be exposed to significant heat and sun. http://www.usmint.gov/downloads/pressroom/Presidential_unc_reverse_2000.jpg It appears that I will not have something fully prepared for this weekend's LNC meeting, but something like the Statue of Liberty on this coin is my vision for a new LP logo. #1: Obviously, it is the Statue of Liberty. A beautiful symbol for our party that everyone recognizes. #2: You can see the face. Very important. Not seeing the face is a big negative with the current logo. #3: You are looking up to Liberty, which is to be looked up to. I think a new logo should incorporate a view like this of the Statue of Liberty. Thanks, Bill Redpath
