So, for the sake of clarity, here is the current motion:

We have an electronic mail ballot presented by the Chair per the bylaws
of LPIL Article V section G.

All VOTES are due in (6) business days (by May 14, 2024 at 12:01 AM
Central) at which time the ballot will close, unless everyone votes or
expressly abstains, the ballot can close early.

***PLEASE NOTE per our bylaws, the open voting period is the first 48
hours after issuance of the ballots. Votes can be cast after that time
but not changed.

Co-Sponsors: Walden IV, Leonard, DiMasi, Fox.

==================================================================
MOTION: The LPIL shall respond to the LNC's invitation to
formerPresident Trump to speak at the 2024 National Convention with the
following Resolution:

WHEREAS, Extending an invitation to former President Trump to speak at
the 2024 National Convention was a consternation to the hard-working
activists in the Libertarian Party.

WHEREAS, The 2024 National Convention is intended to nominate and
promote the Libertarian Presidential candidate, rather than provide a
platform for an opposing candidate or party to campaign.

WHEREAS, Hosting this speech would be disrespectful to the Libertarian
Presidential candidates in addition to many LPIL activists who are
contributing countless hours petitioning for ballot access on behalf of
the Party's future nominee.

WHEREAS, inviting Presidential candidates from opposing parties is a
clear violation of Article 2 of the National Libertarian Bylaws. More
specifically, it goes against the following clause. "The Party is
organized to implement and give voice to the principles embodied in the
Statement of Principles by: 1. functioning as a libertarian political
entity separate and distinct from all other political parties or
movements;" having the 2024 Republican Party Presidential nominee speak
at the 2024 Libertarian National Convention not separating the
Libertarian Party from the Republican Party.

BE IT RESOLVED, The Libertarian Party of Illinois calls on the
Libertarian National Committee to rescind its invitation to former
President Trump along with all other invitations to opposing
Presidential candidates to speak at the 2024 Libertarian National
Convention. The Libertarian Party of Illinois firmly stands with other
state affiliates that have voiced their grievances regarding political
opponents being given a platform at our own convention. (Lewis)
=========================================================================

THRESHOLD REQUIRED: Majority of votes cast.

An affirmative or 'Aye' vote is to confirm the resolution. A negative or
'No' vote is to oppose the resolution.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO USE "REPLY ALL" TO CAST YOUR VOTE.

Please notify me or the Chair of any discrepancies.
I will send a reminder email before the ballot expires if needed.

Since this is an addition and not a substantial change, I've decided to
extend the open voting period but not the 5/14 deadline.
