Political Division report will be relatively short. So short that I can
summarize it quickly via email, due to a slow month. (I will add this in
the combined November/December report.)
We're in the final stretch of petitioning season for next spring's
primary. Thanks to ED Justin Tucker and Jake Collins for taking some
time in helping collect signatures for John Daveira. John collected some
signatures himself, so I don't know the total figure of signatures
between John, Justin, and Jake. It is at least several times above the
minimum. We'll see what the Republicans decide to do with it once the
petition is filed. If they do nothing with it, then I will reach out to
Jake Collins and see if they want to attempt some nominations in vacancy
for one more countywide race -- in which I recommend to him a previous
candidate, Nicole Scott, who ran in 2020 and retained the party's status
in the circuit clerk race in that year.
From any early indications, we seem to be doing well in the drive in
Cook County, so the next thing would be to finish strong in the general
next November. As far as the things we couldn't help due to time
constraints, e.g. the General Assembly districts exclusively within the
county, we can always start this fight for 2026 at any time.
I'm temporarily suspending my campaign to run for circuit clerk in
Montgomery County, simply because I do not have the financial resources
to fight the cowardly Republicans in court (and the one attorney that
sometimes handles election cases pro bono, . I think I needed roughly a
dozen or so signatures (no more than 60 maximum) to be in the primary
(that Republicans are denying), but that would be difficult for me to do
by myself with as little time that remains until filing. I will likely
resume it shortly before the primary, but with the unfortunate caveat of
having to collect 543 signatures (minimum) for the general. *I'm willing
to change my mind if I can get some assistance for a weekend. Anything
to annoy the Republican dictatorship here.*
