Team LPIL-

I don’t think it is a secret that we need people. I also don’t think it
is a secret that there is a pretty ridiculous internal conflict between
two factions of the party going on. Bottom line, if we want to stand on
faction lines, we can vote this down and move on. But to simply say that
because this is one Faction’s event it should not be tabled, is rather
short sighted. We need to attract volunteers anywhere we can get them. I
know there are rumors that the Chairman (for life) of one faction has a
special interest in our state party, but Illinois can’t be “taken over”.
Not only are the numbers not there, once new volunteers realize the
difficulty in navigating Illinois’ ballot access laws, they tend to
recognize the value of institutional knowledge. We can’t succeed without
new blood and new blood can’t succeed without the invaluable information
amassed over decades through blood, sweat, and tears involved in
fighting the state.

That said, we have limited resources. I would ask that a few bits of
information be provided at Tuesday’s meeting.

1.) Who would table this event and will it have full coverage during the
event? We shouldn’t pay or offer free advertising in exchange for a
table that isn’t going to be manned.

2.) What is the objective of the table and what is our goal? We should
be striving for a set amount of new members in the LPIL as a result of
the event.

3.) Do we have the marketing material necessary to table an event. With
a significant amount of turnover, I have no idea of the quantity or
whereabouts of our LPIL inventory.

I think if all of these questions are answered sufficiently, we should
consider the motion. We may not like admitting it, but we are a dying
political party. We need more people and we desperately need more
volunteers.

Donny Henry
LPIL SCC Rep - District 17
