Due to the current events of the Libertarian Party of Colorado, and an
invitation from the Massachusetts Libertarian Party to their
Conservative friends to join their organization, I felt it necessary to
write a Resolution in regard to both events. My resolution is below, for
your consideration:
Whereas the Bylaws of the Libertarian National Party state that no
affiliate party shall endorse any candidate who is a member of another
party for public office in any partisan election;
Whereas the Bylaws of the Libertarian National Party also state that no
affiliate party shall take any action inconsistent with the Statement of
Principles or these bylaws;
Whereas the Bylaws of the Libertarian Party of Illinois state that a
Candidate running for office may be denied support if deemed appropriate
by the Executive Committee for going against these Bylaws;
Whereas any member of the Party may file a complaint with the Central
Committee or one of its officers if that member feels that the candidate
does not properly represent the Party because of moral, ethical or
extremist views or because that candidate supports policies in
contradiction to the established platform of the Libertarian Party;
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Illinois
promises to uphold the Bylaws of both the National and State parties in
reference to endorsing candidates of other parties or committing actions
inconsistent with the Statement of Principles or the bylaws of the
National or State parties.
Thank you
