All,
The employer for one of my contract gigs just started printing Southern
Illinois University's /The Daily Egyptian/ <https://dailyegyptian.com/>
this week. I happened to notice the following in this week's issue from
SIU's Paul Simon Public Policy Institute:
They've announced their speaker schedule for the fall 2023 semester and
are as follows:
* Meet the Mayor - August 28, 5 p.m.: Carbondale mayor Carolin Harvey
o SIU Student Center, Ballroom B
* Pizza and Politics - September 12, noon: Illinois state treasurer
Michael Frerichs
o Paul Simon Public Policy Institute Lobby, 1231 Lincoln Dr.,
Carbondale
* Morton-Kenney Lecture - September 18, 6 p.m.: Former Congresswoman
Cheri Bustos
o Guyon Auditorium at the Morris Library
* Special Program - October 30, 6 p.m.: Congressman Darin LaHood and
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood
o SIU Student Center Auditorium
Registration is recommended for each event.
I know the September 12 event might be out of the question, and some
people might not want to make the trip to Carbondale.
If anyone wants to attend the September 18 or October 30 events, maybe
we can get a delegation from our party to attend and communicate with
the key figures from the two political parties that we disagree with, in
hopes that we can move forward with good ideas, instead of -- pro
wrestling reference incoming -- terrible legislation that are stupid
ideas from terrible politicians. (I know, horrible reference, but it's
true and it sticks!)
