HJR79 was passed by the house last week and sent to the senate. I sent a note to my state senator, urging her to oppose this bill. If your state rep sponsored or co-sponsored this bill, you should let them know that you disagree with this. Here is what I sent my senator: I want to call your attention to HJR 79 which was recently passed by the house and sent to the Senate on Feb. 10. This legislation increases the number of signatures required from 8% to 10%, and also requires a supermajority to pass. It is hard enough to get initiative petitions on the ballot, let alone get a supermajority to pass. This legislation is not worthy of passage. Invitation to Organizational Sign-on Letter in Joint Opposition to Missouri Initiative Petition Repeal

Hello Greg, My name is KyungSun and I am a practicum student with Missouri Jobs with Justice. I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out to you as an active or past participant in Missouri’s citizens initiative petition process. CC’d are the co-leads for this legislative session, Ashton Kuehnel and Nyu Nyu Adiang. We are organizing a large coalition to stand against any attempt to undermine Missouri’s constitutional right to the ballot initiative process. Our 115-year tradition has allowed voters to overcome partisan divides in Jefferson City and to pass policy by the people, for the people. Over twenty bills have been filed during the 2022 state legislative session that would drastically change the citizen initiative petition process <https://themissouritimes.com/the-initiative-petition-is-a-missouri-treasure/>. Each proposed bill will negatively impact Missouri voters’ ability to propose and pass legislation, leaving the process to only be able to be viable by large money interest groups. Politicians are interfering with our constitutional rights by pushing these changes themselves; ironically, not the Missourians who use the petition process to participate in direct democracy each year. Missouri convention reservation snafu

I made a reservation for the convention and put down a donation for the fundraising meal after.. It told me sorry had timed out.. and required me to do the whole thing again. Not really a problem..
