2020 Election Bylaws - Transmission to State Party
All - The Elections Committee met today at noon to update the Bylaws of the party in preparation for the 2020 Election Cycle. Under our Constitution, the Bylaws are maintained by the Elections Committee and are transmitted to the Executive Committee prior to January 1st of the election year. The rules take effect immediately, but the Executive Committee may veto any rule by a vote of 3/5ths of the entire Executive Committee within 30 days of this submission, meaning January 14th, 2020 would be the deadline for such a vote. The most-important change is that Affiliate Parties are now able to have a Nominating Convention automatically, in conjunction with their Annual Convention, provided the Affiliate Party informs the State Party Secretary (Cristi) and the Chair of the Elections Committee (me) of their intent to do so. If you plan to nominate candidates for external political office at your District Convention in 2020, please contact Cristi and me ASAP. Counties can also nominate in 2020, if they have at least ten (10) Voting Members and have met for nine (9) of the last twelve (12) months. If any county party qualifies, and wishes to nominate, please contact Cristi and me ASAP.
