WHEREAS, Extending an invitation to former President Trump to speak at the 2024 National Convention was a consternation to the hard-working activists in the Libertarian Party.
WHEREAS, The 2024 National Convention is intended to nominate and promote the Libertarian Presidential candidate, rather than provide a platform for an opposing candidate or party to campaign.
WHEREAS, Hosting this speech would be disrespectful to the Libertarian Presidential candidates in addition to many LPIL activists who are contributing countless hours petitioning for ballot access on behalf of the Party's future nominee.
BE IT RESOLVED, The Libertarian Party of Illinois calls on the Libertarian National Committee to rescind its invitation to former President Trump along with all other invitations to opposing Presidential candidates to speak at the 2024 Libertarian National Convention. The Libertarian Party of Illinois firmly stands with other state affiliates that have voiced their grievances regarding political opponents being given a platform at our own convention.
