Executive Director Report - August 2022
Fellow Libertarians - If you are not a recurring monthly donor to the LP Illinois, please visit www.lpillinois.org/donate to set. If you cannot donate monthly, please consider a one-time donation. Also please consider Lifetime Memberships. Thanks to all our donors, both new and recurring. We just paid for a petition drive and we need to rebuild the treasury. Become a donor today! If you are not a Precinct Committeeperson, please consider becoming one. If you are in an established county, start planning the next PC elections. Meanwhile, the information on https://lpillinois.org/precinct-committeemen/ should be updated. The GOP has filled vacancies in Cook County. There will be some three-way races, but we were able to work together and successfully challenge some of the vacancies, and now there will be key two-way races in Cook County. The CCLCC was sent notice by the Cook County Clerk's Office of the "Established Political Party Lottery" to be held tomorrow. I wrote an appeal and sent it to the Ex Com. Seeing no further suggestions, I am going to schedule that one for tomorrow morning. In the month of July, we brought in a total of $582.51. So far in August, we've brought in $2274.21. Again, we just paid for a petition drive and need to replenish our coffers. Please reach into your couch cushions, put aside a few coffees, and or whatever you can spare, large or small, to help rebuild. My all-time haul as ED is $11,380.62 9 of the top 20 months for contribution aggregate have been since April 2021. I am seeking another term as Chair of the Cook County Libertarian Central Committee. I seek to institute a plan for 2024 Ward Committeeperson races, update our bylaws to better comply with IL law, and to fill vacancies in Cook County townships. Please vote for me if you plan to attend the CCLCC convention next Wednesday in Oak Park. Visit here for more details regarding the CCLCC convention: https://lpchicago.org/event/2022-cook-county-libertarian-central-committee-c... I followed up with again JB Pritzker's staffer regarding a meeting with Libertarian constituents. Still no reply. I encourage folks to secure their Libertarian memorabilia in our archive at UIC to protect them from damage. Reach out to me about donations. I plan on boxing up some things and making a donation soon. Thank you for letting me serve you as Executive Director. Best, Justin Tucker Executive Director, Libertarian Party of Illinois
Hit sent a bit too soon. Mr Secretary, please strike: "I am seeking another term as Chair of the Cook County Libertarian Central Committee. I seek to institute a plan for 2024 Ward Committeeperson races, update our bylaws to better comply with IL law, and to fill vacancies in Cook County townships. Please vote for me if you plan to attend the CCLCC convention next Wednesday in Oak Park. Visit here for more details regarding the CCLCC convention: https://lpchicago.org/event/2022-cook-county-libertarian-central-committee-c..." Replace with: "I have been reelected another term as Chair of the Cook County Libertarian Central Committee and plan to circulate a petition for Chicago Police council in my district. Small signature thresholds with easily identifiable district boundaries." On 2022-08-16 18:30, Justin Tucker wrote:

Fellow Libertarians - If you are not a recurring monthly donor to the LP Illinois, please visit www.lpillinois.org to set. If you cannot donate monthly, please consider a one-time donation. If you are in an established county, start planning the next PC elections. Meanwhile, the information on https://lpillinois.org/precinct-committeemen/ should be updated. In the month of August, we brought in a total of $2881.71. So far in September, we've brought in $342.71. Again, we just paid for a petition drive and need to replenish our coffers. Please reach into your couch cushions, put aside a few coffees, and give whatever you can spare, large or small, to help rebuild. My all-time haul as ED is $11,896.63 and up $516.01 from our last BOD meeting. Registration for Spook the State: 2022 LP Illinois State Gala is open. We will need to add more verbiage ourselves about the event, but we can start promoting. I will draft an email promoting Gala sales going live. I also plan to send an appeal aimed at new members since 2019 welcoming them to the party, thanking them for their support, directing them to help, and asking for a donation. I also plan another general fundraising appeal. I also sent out an email appeal on behalf of Bill Redpath's campaign and plan to do so with the other statewide candidates. 9 of the top 20 months for contribution aggregate have been since April 2021. I have begun circulating a petition to be on the Chicago Police District Council in the 14th District. Three members are chosen at large. I will have more info on my campaign as the Chicago municipal petition drive continues on. The UIC library will be picking up materials for the archive on Friday. If you want to donate, you have until Friday or until the next pick-up. Best, Justin Tucker Executive Director, Libertarian Party of Illinois
Fellow Libertarians - Apologies for not sending a written report for October as I said I would. We went from the gala to the final stretch of the campaign season, and the aforementioned report was lost in the shuffle. I hope you understand and please forgive me. Based on what we know now, as all the data is yet to be available, we extended ballot access in Cook and McLean Counties and picked up Montgomery County. If we are measuring success by the number of counties established, then we have shown growth. Thanks to the candidates, voters volunteers, and donors who helped contribute to our success! If you are not a recurring monthly donor to the LP Illinois, please visit www.lpillinois.org and click DONATE. If you cannot donate monthly, please consider a one-time donation. Please reach into your couch cushions, put aside a few coffees, and give whatever you can spare, large or small, to help rebuild. Become a donor today! Also thanks to all who participated and donated during Spook the State: 2022 LP Illinois State Gala. Feel free to provide me with any feedback re: the gala. What did you think of the speakers, the single day format, the food, the location, and et cetera? It was such a blast and I can't wait for the next convention! Please consider serving on the 2023 convention committee, especially if you have previous experience. I offer to serve on the committee but would prefer not to chair. I would offer as much assistance as possible. If you are not a Precinct Committeeperson, please consider becoming one. If you are in an established county, start planning the next PC elections. Meanwhile, the information on https://lpillinois.org/precinct-committeemen/ should be updated. In the month of September, we brought in $3703.96. In October, we brought in $13,892.74. These months were boosted by Gala sales, the auction, and a very special new Lifetime Membership. My all-time haul as ED is $18,111.05. I am no longer circulating a petition to be on the Chicago Police District Council in the 14th District. Instead, I am circulating for new Libertarian Chris Laurent, also in the 14th District. If anyone wants to help in the petitioning effort, let me know. I will be donating more items to our archive at the UIC library. As some of you guys have just spent lots of money on Libertarian memorabilia, I encourage you to use the archive for safekeeping in case of a disaster like a fire. If you want to donate, let me know and I can help. I have been in more frequent communication with our national Chair, Angela McArdle. She hosted Bill Redpath on the GOTV live stream on LP National YouTube. Also looped her in on our candidates ahead of her Election Night live stream and provided her with updates as the night progressed. She correctly pronounced Nico Tsatsoulis. I am meeting with her Thursday for a chat, so let me know if you have any topics to discuss. Finally, I cannot remain silent on some of the recent horrible social media messaging coming from LP National. If you are as disgusted as I am, please reach out to our regional rep, Joseph Ecklund, and respectfully express your concerns. Best, Justin Tucker Executive Director, Libertarian Party of Illinois
Fellow Libertarians - Apologies for not sending a written report for December. The holidays are a wild time. I hope you understand. If you are not a recurring monthly donor to LP Illinois, please visit www.lpillinois.org and click DONATE. If you cannot donate monthly, please consider a one-time donation. Also please consider Lifetime Memberships, which will get you into future conventions. Thanks to all our donors, both new and recurring. If you are not a Precinct Committeeperson, please consider becoming one. If you are in an established county, start planning the next PC elections. Meanwhile, the information on https://lpillinois.org/precinct-committeemen/ should be updated. In the month of November, we brought in $656.67. In December, we brought in $805.26. My all-time haul as ED is $19,717.72. We secured a critical donation from of our Lifetime Members, impressed with our performance in November. I am running a write-in campaign for the 14th District Chicago Police Council, along with Chris Laurent, who will be our first elected LPIL member to Chicago municipal government. My competition is associated with a local progressive organization that is well-funded and has Chris Laurant also recently received coverage in the Chicago Reader. I have also been making contacts with several Chicago aldermanic candidates, including Andy Schneider, who has given me considerable attention as a potential constituent. I even got him to call me "Tucker" as my friends in Missouri call me. I helped plan a Chicago Mayoral Forum with LPC. Four candidates RSVP'd, including Paul Vallas and Willie Wilson but Wilson was the only candidate who appeared. The forum received coverage on the local CBS affiliate and likely was alerted to the event through a media alert the LPC sent. Thanks to Mandy Parsons and Paul DiMasi for helping us build up our press list. I also attended a meeting of the Blexit Foundation for a Martin Luther King Day lunch. The state organizer for the Convention of States was in attendance and I would recommend to the convention committee keep them in mind as a vendor and session speaker. We should also remember Blexit Foundation as a vendor as well. I do not recommend the organization Team Illinois, as it appears to be a Christian ministry and not a pro-school choice organization. I will continue to donate items to our archive at the UIC library. As some of you guys have just spent lots of money on Libertarian memorabilia, I encourage you to use the archive for safekeeping in case of a disaster like a fire. If you want to donate, let me know and I can help. Best, Justin Tucker Executive Director, Libertarian Party of Illinois
Fellow Libertarians - Congratulations to Bill Redpath on becoming Chair of the LPIL. I am very excited about working with Bill and I strongly feel we can continue to thrive under his leadership. Another thank you to Chase Renwick for all his years of service to the LPIL. He will be missed as Chair. Chase was instrumental in getting out the Executive Director position established and without those efforts, we would not have more than $20,000 of additional resources in our coffers. His leadership will be greatly missed. Please make a donation to the LP Illinois by visiting www.lpillinois.org and clicking DONATE. Also please consider Lifetime Memberships, which will get you into future conventions. Thanks to all our donors, both new and recurring. Established counties start petitioning around Novemberish and the statewide petition for the 2024 Presidential ticket starts next spring. Please reach into your couch cushions, put aside a few coffees, and give whatever you can spare, large or small, to help rebuild. Become a donor today! If you are not a Precinct Committeeperson, please consider becoming one. If you are in an established county, start planning the next PC elections. Meanwhile, the information on https://lpillinois.org/precinct-committeemen/ should be updated. My all-time haul as ED is $20,947.60. On Friday, I will be meeting with State Rep. LaShawn Ford to discuss ballot access issues as well as Illinois decentralization issues. If anyone has the text of the 2018 resolution about dissolving the current Illinois structure into one or several states, please send it my way. At the advice of the Executive Committee, I will begin the process of finding interested PCs in Chicago to appoint as Ward Committeepersons. I will soon call for a Cook County Libertarian Central Committee meeting as per the CCLCC bylaws and to announce appointments to Township Committeeperson. Russ hosted a new member welcome meeting. This has the potential to be a great tool for helping onboard new members and gauging interest in running for office or volunteer activities. I helped man the table at the Take Human Action event and facilitated a few new members to the LPIL.
Fellow Libertarians - Please make a donation to the LP Illinois by visiting www.lpillinois.org and clicking DONATE. Also please consider Lifetime Memberships, which will get you into future conventions. Thanks to all our donors, both new and recurring, especially the donors on this call. Established counties start petitioning around soon and the statewide petition for the 2024 Presidential ticket starts next spring. Please dig deep in those pockets today to help rebuild. Become a donor today! If you are not a Precinct Committeeperson, please consider becoming one. If you are in an established county, start planning the next PC elections. Meanwhile, the information on https://lpillinois.org/precinct-committeemen/ should be updated. My all-time haul as ED is $22,262.77. I sent several e-mails to the membership about participating in our survey, to which we had hundreds of replies. Those results should be available from Field Ops. I wrote a fundraising and candidate recruitment blurb in Mandy's latest newsletter. I plan to send another fundraising and candidate recruitment appeal later this week. Also had a discussion with Chapter Development Director Paul Di Masi. We want to assure you that we will assist chapters in any way we can. We are at your disposal and have the tools to help grow. Reforming how local chapter relate with the state party may be a solution worth discussing. The Cook County Libertarian Central Committee recently met to fulfill bylaws obligations. We discussed parades and Cook County districts we did well in. We met in Blue Island and plan to meet in and around Berwyn after this month. I also appointed Township and Ward Committeepersons and informed the Committee of the petitioning process for Ward Committeepersons in the primary election. I will have all the new documents to the Precinct Director soon. Please march with Chicagoland Libertarians in the upcoming Chicago Pride Parade on Sunday. We will be lining up on Broadway north of Montrose. Follow up with me or See LPC's Facebook for more details. Russ and I continue to host a new member welcome meeting. This month's was sparsely attended but May's had several eager newbies. One is looking to help start a chapter in the West Cook suburbs. Feel free to call me on the new state party line, which can be found on the front page of the website. Thanks, IT Division, for setting that up. I will continue to donate items to our archive at the UIC library. As some of you guys have just spent lots of money on Libertarian memorabilia, I encourage you to use the archive for safekeeping in case of a disaster like a fire.
