Good evening! I have a couple of questions about this. First off, Secretary Mattes let me know the $1,800.00 (USD) in funding is coming from funding that came from a Cook County court decision, in which case this is extra funding which means good news for us; and we will have ~3,000 flyers being sent out (2/3 of which are in Cook County alone). Additionally I more or less like the flyer design -- although I'd suggest maybe swapping the dark blue to black so that it doesn't get confused as being a Mises Institute/PAC-sponsored promotional card, and that most people are more likely to associate "libertarianism" (at least in the US) with anarcho-capitalist beliefs, which has gold and black as colors. Other than that, which I agree is more aesthetic choice than anything else, I have a couple questions: Specifically, I'd like to be sure that the $1.8K we are voting on will cover the cost. Secretary Mattes notified me that Treasurer Clarke would have more information, so onto the questions: 1) What size will the flyer be? 2) What paper type are we going to be using? 3) What vendor are we using to have these printed? 4) Is there a quote on potential services rendered from any vendors yet? 5) I assume we will be using USPS for shipping -- can this be confirmed? 6) Have the shipping costs been priced out or quoted yet? 7) If in the event the Convention Planning Committee votes to add extra speakers, etc: can the .pdf for the flyer be changed before we send them out? I believe, especially with the current political climate and all the internal issues within the Party nationally, that optics is very important for us in the eyes of independent and unaffiliated voters. It is unlikely we will be able to use this convention to convince Republicans and Democrats to have an epiphany of Liberty, so we need to ensure that everything we do regarding this convention cannot come back down the road and cause issues for us -- regardless of whether or not it is before, during, or after the convention. I want to make sure we have all our metaphorical "i"s dotted and "t"s crossed when it comes to something like this -- especially such a large budget expenditure with regards to the general budget, and especially because a supermajority of the recipients of this flyers are in Cook County, so we need to make a good impression. To be clear, I do not foresee any issues with this, I would just like a bit of clarification on the questions above. --- Regards, ~Blake Hanson ~Director, Field Operations Division ~Libertarian Party of Illinois ~Cell: (779) 777-5139 ~Business Email: fieldopsdirector@lpillinois.org ~Personal Email: blake.a.hanson1@gmail.com On 2023-08-30 13:30, Ken Mattes via Lpil-bod wrote:

Blake 1. The flyer will be 8” by 5”. This is to accommodate a 16 pt font size for the smaller fonts and get all the information out. A 16 pt font size is recommended to accommodate readers with poor eyesight. 2. 100 cardstock. This is what most political mailers use. 3. Quicksilver Mailing in Springfield. For each flyer, postage is 44 cents, paper is 18 cents and addressing is 4 cents. 4. I’ve attached the email quote 5. Yes. Private mail will be far more expensive. 6. Postage and addressing is included. 7. At this point, I’d rather get this out as is so we can get it in the hands of members. The point is to drive up traffic and membership between now and the end of October when the average person stops thinking about politics.
