Assistance needed in contacting potential candidates for 2022
by Jake Leonard 04 Sep '21

04 Sep '21
All, As you all know, we're just barely over a month away from selecting our 2022 slates for statewide office, Congressional (including Tammy Duckworth's U.S. Senate seat), and General Assembly. With Kevin Kauzlaric no longer as Candidate Recruitment Director, those responsibilities have fallen on me in the interim. However, I am not getting a response from any of our early inquiries. For internal reasons, I do not include contact information in the recruitment reports - and you should have had received communications from either Kevin or myself requesting that they take the first step in reaching out to their local chapter(s). However, if you no longer have those recruitment emails and you need contact information for a specific candidate, please do not hesitate to contact me. (It may result in a delayed response due to work commitments, but they will ultimately be completed regardless. As Scott Schluter is the only statewide candidate actively campaigning, and with Bill Redpath on the bubble considering a run for U.S. Senate, I have some serious concerns: * If we have any chances of attaining recognized party status statewide and earn easier ballot access, we cannot do this with a two-candidate statewide slate. * I would prefer not having to deal with nominations on the floor if they aren't going to take it seriously. You see the number of inquiries this time around. It blows 2020 out of the water, but it means nothing if we can't get candidates to commit to their intentions. Chapter chairs should be making every attempt to contact interested political candidates who want to run on our banner. This is especially true in the some of the counties that have recognized party status. OK, jumping off my soapbox for now.
