Results: E-MAIL BALLOT: Revised Hinkle motion to purchase a building
Dear Chairman Neale: I hope all is well with you. I am writing in my capacity as Secretary Pro Tem to provide you and our LNC colleagues with the results of Mark Hinkle's revised motion concerning the purchase of a building. Text of Motion: * Moved, that the LNC approve the purchase of an office in the greater Washington, D.C. area, to be named in honor of David F. Nolan, contingent on the following conditions:* * *A minimum down payment of 20% shall be raised from dedicated contributions. If a portion of that is in the form of pledges, the pledges must be converted to cash before a purchase contract and mortgage agreement are finalized.* * *The monthly payment of principal, interest, and OTM (Overhead, Taxes, and Maintenance) shall not exceed 75% of our current lease payments at the Watergate complex.* *This motion will constitute authority to incur a mortgage if the above conditions are met and if this motion passes by the necessary two-thirds vote as specified in the Libertarian Party's Bylaws.* *The final decision on what property to buy shall be approved by the LNC's Executive Committee by a majority vote once the above conditions are met. * As I noted in an update to the LNC yesterday, after the close of the voting period at 5:05 p.m. EST yesterday (Wednesday, Jan. 30), the vote totals are as follows (voters are listed by alphabetical order of surname): Ayes (13): Blau, Capozzi, Cloud, Hagan, Hinkle, Kirkland, Lark, Mack, Myers, Neale, Redpath, Vohra, Wrights Nays (3): Olsen, Visek, Wiener Note: Mr. Goldstein (Region 3 alternate) voted "nay"; his vote is superseded by the "aye" vote of Ms. Mack. Ms. Capozzi (Region 4 alternate) voted "aye"; since Mr. Pojunis did not vote, her "aye" will serve as one of the votes of Region 4. Dr. Lieberman (Region 4 alternate) voted "nay"; his vote is superseded by the "nay" vote of Mr. Wiener. Mr. Blau (Region 5N alternate) voted "aye"; since Mr. Tomasso did not vote, Mr. Blau's "aye" will serve as the vote of Region 5N. In that update message, I requested that LNC members review the list of votes and associated voters above and the list of voters and vote submission dates below to determine whether any corrections are needed. In response Starchild indicated yesterday that he thought he had voted "nay" on the motion; in a subsequent message he indicated that it is possible he did not vote on this motion, but rather on a different motion, I requested that if he has indeed voted on the motion, he should forward to me the messages in which he voted; so far I have not received any messages. In addition, I have reviewed my e-mail files again; as far as I can tell, I do not have a message from him containing a vote on this issue. As always, thanks for your work for liberty. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance to you. Take care, Jim James W.
