Message from the Convention Oversight Committee Chair re: the pending votes
Dear All, Ms. Ryan asked me to share this with you, as she does not have posting privileges to this list, as four of her other colleagues on the Convention Oversight Committee do. Yours in liberty, Nick *** “I can't believe the LNC may actually leave Daniel Hayes on the convention committee simply to stick it to the LNC chairman. First Daniel constantly is abusive, yelling at his committee and the staff; he yelled at a staff member mean enough he had her in tears. (I got this first hand). He yelled at a committee member who finally had enough and yell at him that she didn't give up her night to sit in on a F*&*&**meeting to be F*&*& * yelled at. He is also abusive to the people he needs to deal with on our behalf. For the last four months he and others on the committee have committee to undermine the LNC Chair and the LNC itself. He negotiated a contract that left the party with a huge liability risk even though the LNC chair and others warned about the risk. (Fortunately I was able to negotiate a much better contract.) He also spoke about 'bullying' a hotel staffer into giving us another room recently. This is not the way to represent our party. It is not how I do business. He said, one time, recently that he was ready to tell John Stossel's people to pound sand because he didn't like the 'tone' of voice they used. He pushed to have the POTUS nomination at the openly said he didn't care if some states couldn't make the ballot if we elected our candidates too late. It was more important to "have a great" in person convention. Our LNC Chairman removed someone from the convention oversight committee who is so abusive that I almost quit. Now the LNC is considering putting this person back on the committee? Are they not concerned with the liability? What happens if he yells at the wrong person? Will we be sued?” -BetteRose Ryan
BetteRose Ryan does not speak for this member of the COC committee. Period. I speak for myself. BetteRose, as the Chair of the COC, should probably address these things with the actual COC....considering that we have been in conversations with her throughout every day since she was named Chair of the COC. She has not expressed this sentiment to us. On the contrary, she has said she was happy to have to Daniel continue to work with speakers, etc... So, there is clearly a disconnect between what she is saying to individual LNC members, and what she is saying to the COC (the committee she chairs now). She has the same access to this list that other non-LNC members have. I will copy her on my reply to make sure. I never said that I spoke for anyone but myself and everything I said was true to my knowledge. I have said many times that I disagree with Daniel being on the committee for the reasons I outline. I did say he could be a volunteer. And I asked Sam to ask Daniel, when Daniel was not speaking to me, to get the speakers' list from Daniel. I asked him three times in the meeting for that same list. He did the same thing in 2016 and sent us way over on the speakers' budget without our committee's consent. I am concern he will do the same here. Having Daniel sit in on our meetings is different then having him on the CoC which again, I have spoken against and in fact added Jim Turney as requested. Not one on the CoC objected to that. Bullshit. We never had a chance to even discuss adding Jim to the COC before Nick appointed him without the recommendation of the COC as required by the policy manual. I think we all like and respect Jim and regret that Nick saw fit to use him in his litter power games without his consent. Thankfully the choice is not in your hands or Nick's anymore. The LNC has voted 15-1 to change the policy manual language on COC appointments and any changes to the COC are now in their hands. --- Sam Goldstein, At Large Member Libertarian National Committee Convention Oversight Committee 317-850-0726 Cell On 2020-06-07 17:23, BetteRose via Lnc-business wrote:

My irony meter is pegging today. The chair demonstrates a complete lack of personal awareness Here's the LNC chair scolding another LNC member over his sudden interest in decorum, yet he was the one who started this thread by posting another person's message full of personal attacks. Also, we're all familiar with the LNC chair's own communication style with others on social media (which made it seem plausible that the tweet earlier this week on the impersonation account could have been from the party account). He has earned the nicknames Snark-wark and Czar-wark. We all saw him angrily yelling at delegates and banging the gavel with all his might during the Memorial Day weekend event. He has done that in LNC meetings as well this term, yelling loudly over very minor crosstalk done to facilitate wording of a motion. Mr. Sarwark has no room to criticize anyone else's style. Daniel Hayes doesn't bulldoze member rights. I think we all see this for what it is. -Alicia On Sun, Jun 7, 2020 at 3:22 PM erin.adams--- via Lnc-business < lnc-business@hq.lp.org> wrote:
In Response to Ms. Ryan,
whether or not the LNC leaves Mr. Hayes on the committee has nothing to do with , or should not at least, “sticking it” to anyone, but rather matters of policy and how that policy is interpreted.
As a Member of the COC I have not felt abused by Mr. Hayes and I see that term used here as subjective. His method of communication is notably different than that of others however Im not a believer that communicating with a different tone or even yelling is abusive. Again, that is subjective and may be determined by other individuals differently.
You make a strong allegation that members have been “working to undermine the LNC Chair and the LNC itself” that again, is based on your subjective interpretations. My subjective interpretations are not in alignment with yours.
While I am grateful to you for negotiating a MUCH better liquidated damages clause, It is disingenuous to say that Mr. Hayes negotiated a contract with a huge liability risk as the liability we are speaking of was less than half of that involved in the Austin contract. You absolutely negotiated a better rate, but that does not mean that Mr. Hayes was negligent .
I did not hear Mr. Hayes speak of bullying a hotel staffer.
You may be correct about Stossel and I cant speak to that because I truly dont remember that conversation.
He did want the POTUS nom at the in person but I never heard him say that he didint care if some states couldnt make the ballot because it was too late. Quite the contrary, On a joint call with the ballot access committee, I heard him, repeatedly, ask for recommendations on dates that would allow states to still make the deadlines.
I have almost quit this committee as well, recently, for reasons other mr. hayes. I am happy to discuss my reasons with you if you are interested.

I don't recall any discussion during which the COC had a voice in adding Jim. That was done by Nick without COC input. I'm happy to have him, but that has nothing to do with BetteRose's comments regarding Daniel. On Sun, Jun 7, 2020, 4:23 PM BetteRose <betterose@aol.com> wrote:

Dear All,
Ms. Ryan asked me to share this with you, as she does not have posting privileges to this list, as four of her other colleagues on the Convention Oversight Committee do.
Yours in liberty, Nick

“I can't believe the LNC may actually leave Daniel Hayes on the convention committee simply to stick it to the LNC chairman.
(Fortunately I was able to negotiate a much better contract.)
He also spoke about 'bullying' a hotel staffer into giving us another room recently.
