There is an A/V contract proposed by the Convention Oversight Committee that was negotiated before the site was finalized with the same company that was going to handle A/V in Austin. Given the number of changes that have occurred between now and then, and given the commitment the Rosen Hotel Group has made to make our convention a success, I have asked BetteRose Ryan, Chair of the Convention Oversight Committee, to solicit a bid from the Rosen Group's in-house A/V provider. Mr Nanna there are two things that concern me: 1. The time delay 2. Most of the CoC learned of this when Nick posted here - they were totally in the dark That second item should be unacceptable to everyone. In isolation, the more bids the better. Twelfth hour end runs around the CoC are another thing. We talk a lot about distaste for micromanagement. This in micromanagement in a macro scale and is demoralizing to volunteers. I'm on the LNC and I'm interested in seeing better contracts. One was obtained for the Rosen. It makes sense to me to also try and obtain a better A/V contract. Why wouldn't you also want to see IF a better contract can be obtained? I’m the one who asked counsel about this and have been in communication with the CoC. I see this as an effort to derail and delay and will sponsor the motion Sam. The chair needs to stop interfering, the CoC chair needs to stop capitulating, and we all need to let the CoC do their job. This concerns me. The CoC already approved the other, and it is my understanding that this email here is how the rest of the CoC heard of this. Why are things being done without the rest of the CoC being consulted? This seems like interference that is slowing things down. It is too late to keep putting delays in this process. How long is this going to take? And the CoC has already worked with the current guy on remote connections that many delegates are demanding, and this seems to be sabotaging that.

There is an A/V contract proposed by the Convention Oversight Committee that was negotiated before the site was finalized with the same company that was going to handle A/V in Austin.
Given the number of changes that have occurred between now and then, and given the commitment the Rosen Hotel Group has made to make our convention a success, I have asked BetteRose Ryan, Chair of the Convention Oversight Committee, to solicit a bid from the Rosen Group's in-house A/V provider.

Thank you Erin, the information is appreciated. (A company name) Now, I think 2020 is not an ordinary year. The types of contracts that can be had won't be ordinary either. (The Rosen contract is a prime example.) The in-house provider I believe is psav. Psav has some of the highest published AV prices in the industry. Our current av contract as well as the relationship that was built with the vendor, put us in a much better situation to truly be able to negotiate not just pay the process lip service. Under the current contract there are many many many services being provided at no cost to us that we will not be able to achieve through a psav contract in my opinion

Why wouldn't you also want to see IF a better contract can be obtained? Instead of "you're not the boss of me" reactions, how about the COC work to ensure the best possible contracts are obtained?

The Chair does not run the COC nor give directive to us. That is the responsibility of the LNC>
