Resolution of the Libertarian Party of Colorado
This was just posted as passed by the LPCO board Resolved, "the Libertarian Party of Colorado board. Given the unforeseen circumstances of the ongoing pandemic and government response. The libertarian national convention for May 21-25th 2020 is not happening as planned. Because of this unfortunate situation the LNC and the CoC is having to decide how to conduct National Party business whether it’s postponing or having a remote video conference both of which carry positives and negatives. With LPCO having 35 delegates including many board members that have committed to attend, making their voice heard, help conduct national party business which includes the presidential ticket and LNC board members. Making LPCO carry a lot of influence and with other State party’s telling the LNC and CoC their preference, it is important that LPCO use our influence as well. Postponing the in-person convention to June or July and developing a remote option for delegations under travel restrictions or mandatory quarantine brings the opportunity to keep within the National Party bylaws, have different outreach and publicity opportunities. One potential idea/chance is if it’s postponed to July there could be an opportunity to relocate to Las Vegas and have it coincide with the freedom festival. While there is no perfect solution to this quirky year, I believe postponing is the best solution. Therefore the resolution I am proposing will read. WHEREAS, with the ongoing pandemic presenting health and safety risks that is making the in-person May 21-25th 2020 national convention untenable, with trying to have a purely remote convention presenting too many logistic problems and being counter to the National Party’s bylaws, loss of publicity to the Party and Presidential ticket, and calling into question the integrity of the nominating process. Understanding any solution will be imperfect to an unfortunate situation- Therefore, it is RESOLVED that the board of the Libertarian Party of Colorado calls on the Libertarian National Committee to postpone the in-person convention to June or July of 2020, and develop a remote option for delegations under travel restrictions or mandatory quarantine". * In Liberty,* * Personal Note: I have what is commonly known as Asperger's Syndrome (part of the autism spectrum).
