Re: [Lnc-business] Treasurer Report & Double the LP
LNC Board, Mr. Hagan thank you for providing the Treasures the report! I suggest I strongly suggest that each member review the report. I fear you will find the result less than satisfactory and likely disturbing. Here are a few things to look at; 1. Our number of members are flirting with a 20 year low, more than 1/2 off our all time high; 2. Our revenues have basically been declining since the year 2000; 3. For most of this year we have been spending more money than revenues generated; 4. Based on the numbers from January 2012 through July 2012 there are very little expenses for fundraising or membership drives. We have to do something! We do not have the luxury to be spectators anymore. As LNC members we should initiate National campaigns with the intent to drive new membership and significantly increase revenues. If there are members of this board who do not feel the same way, they should strongly reconsider their participation on this board as this board will not exist if we do not dramatically improve our membership and revenues. I would like to start the conversation now about what we can do to increase members and revenues, Nationally as a party. We cannot require any state affiliate to participate in National campaigns, but we must develop campaigns for affiliates to participate in. As leaders of the Libertarian party it is our responsibility to demonstrate leadership. Last week I sent out information about a National campaign called Double The LP. It concerns me that I have received little feedback from this board. I would prefer to embrace the Double The LP campaign, however, if someone on this board has developed any other ideas, now is the time to share them with us. From my understanding this is the only plan on the table. Am I the only member of this board who is very concerned with our inability to build our membership? If not, please speak up and perhaps we can do things on our own to help save the Libertarian Party. I have promised to do everything I can to unite this party, by setting aside differences and working together on campaigns like Double The LP, we will be united. I have attached a shorter version of the Double The LP plan as well as the original plan to this email for your review. I would appreciate feedback and any objections to launching the campaign. Can we at least start the conversation and can we work together to get over any potential objections for this campaign? Thank you and I welcome your questions and comments. Best, Brett H. The unrestricted checking account is above the reserve requirement. I attest this to expenses being kept down to match the lower than expected revenues.
