Accepting convention delegates from out of state?
Please forward to state chairs in your region: Dear State Chair, I'm sometimes contacted by people interested in attending the national convention, but they are not currently delegates from their own state (usually because they missed a deadline or their state delegation is already full). If your state is accepting applicants to be delegates from out of state, let me know, and I may forward some names to you as I receive them. I'm only expecting a dozen or so inquiries of this type, although that number could change if people start discussing this concept widely. No states have alerted me to accepting applicants to be delegates from out of state. I have been telling people that it has been common in the past for some delegates not to show up to the convention, and for states to add delegates on site at the convention, but there are no guarantees. I encourage people to attend the convention regardless of whether or not they get to be a delegate.
