If I was from Chicago would my voted have been counted twice? --- Sam Goldstein Libertarian National Committee 317-850-0726 Cell On 2018-08-02 15:32, Caryn Ann Harlos via Lnc-business wrote:
Voting has ENDED for the Email Ballot 2018-19: AGREE TO "JC" DECISIONS
All names are listed alphabetically by surname.
Motion: Move that the Libertarian National Committee agree to be bound by the decisions of the top-seven vote-getters for the Judicial Committee at the 2018 Convention as if they were elected in the normal course of convention business and follow the procedures and rules set forth in our Bylaws. It is acknowledged that this agreement is not binding upon any member or affiliate.
Co-Sponsors: Harlos, Longstreth, Merced, Phillips
Voting "aye": Bishop-Henchman, Hagan, Harlos, Lark, Longstreth, Merced, Nekhaila, Olsen, Phillips, Redpath
Voting "nay": Bilyeu, Goldstein, Lyons, Mattson, Van Horn
Express Abstention: None
No Vote Cast: Sarwark, Smith
With a final vote tally of 10-5 the motion PASSES.
Ballot Notes: Goldstein voted no twice (but it of course was only counted once). Region 1 Alternate Bowden had also voted yes, but Region 1 Representative Longstreth’s yes vote is the one that was counted. Region 5 Alternate Hogarth had also voted yes, but Region 5 Representative Lark’s yes vote is the one that was counted. Region 8 Representative O’Donnell did not vote and explicitly stated that he yielded to Region 8 Alternate Lyons’ no vote. Region 8 Alternate Lyons re-affirmed his no vote.

Nick,
You are such a fantastic convention chair that people follow you - sometimes without question. You pretty much led them through each step on how to close the convention - even going through some political theater by saying you would rule something out of order and basically telling them to overrule you. The delegates trusted that this would close the convention cleanly and that all pending elections would be taken care of. But it didn't. You goofed - it happens. But they would not have so quickly done so if you had not led them that way. I do not believe for a second it was ever their intention not to have a JC but the record is also clear that we did not elect one. How did that happen? Too much trust and influence, IMHO. There was nothing bad faith about it - it is the curse of being a very good chair - people tend to forget you are human.

John, it is not finger-pointing - I have been very careful to say the fault is OURS and not any one persons - mistakes happen. Nothing bad was meant - it wasn't malicious or devious. It was simply being human.

And this is where we disagree.
BUT at this point rehashing this discussion AGAIN is completely pointless.
Our responsibility is to fix it so it does not reoccur, not continue finger pointing like a bunch of gradeschool children.

And that the fault and responsibility falls squarely on leadership.

No Whitney it is my personal position that the delegates were inadvertently unduly influenced and misled.

It would require a bylaws change effective for that convention only.
