I support the compromise and moist of that but I cannot afford to pledge I will not request a refund. I paid for actual "merchandise or services." I cannot afford a $2K donation. I am in forbearance on my mortgage and that is a mortgage payment. If the in person convention is cancelled, I will be requesting a refund. Not out of malice. Out of financial desperation. If I could give the money, I would. *In Liberty,* * Personal Note: I have what is commonly known as Asperger's Syndrome (part of the autism spectrum). Dear All,
A public request I made on social media, and one I think may be appropriate for this list.
All of you planning to push for more business to get done in the online convention.
If you won't reconsider this course of action, which I understand but consider ill advised mostly due to time and monetary issues, I have 5 requests.
1. I ask that you let us get through POTUS/VP selections first. It will let us get that out of the way for sure rather than disrupting that process. It will also serve as a test run to the feasibility of getting any more done and give an idea of how long any more would take.
2. You sign a pledge that you will not want a refund for any convention packages or donations. This is important to the financial well being of the party.
3. You step up and volunteer to help our members who are not as comfortable with technology. You don't want to be disenfranchised by the virus. They don't want to be disenfranchised by a computer.
4. Related to 3, you don't try to rush and force more things through. Be patient as people may have other technological issues, like poor internet, lag, email issues, etc.
5. If you add any business, the first addition should be allowing remote participation in the case we do have/need a physical convention - which I believe we will.
I hope you reconsider and let the compromise run, but if you feel you can't I understand why, and just ask these considerations and respect of your fellow party members.
Sincerely,
John Phillips Libertarian National Committee Region 6 Representative Cell 217-412-5973
