I'm opposed to any increase in dues until such payments are decoupled from the right to participate in party decision-making (e.g. serve as a delegate), which ought to be based strictly on agreement with libertarian principles. The Libertarian Party should not be a pay-to-play organization. I'm less opposed to a convention set-aside, but while I think we could usefully spend more on conventions if the money were well-spent – an "if" in which I confess I do not have a great deal of confidence – and the goal of avoiding floor fees is certainly admirable, I'm unconvinced it's the best approach. The idea would seem to suggest that a well-planned convention will necessarily fall into a certain range in terms of costs, and I don't believe that's necessarily true.
