Starchild, I like the direction you are going on this proposal. How would you suggest that we go about due diligence on the long list of organizations that you are proposing for approval by the LNC? Thoughts? Libertarians – We Stand For FREEDOM, Nothing More, Nothing Less Celebrate Life, Set the Bar High and LIVE FREE ~David Pratt Demarest Region 6 Representative, Libertarian National Committee (IA, IL, MN, MO, ND, NE, WI) Cell: 402-981-6469 Home: 402-493-0873 Office: 402-222-7207 From: Lnc-business [mailto:lnc-business-bounces@hq.lp.org] On Behalf Of Starchild Sent: Thursday, December 08, 2016 9:56 AM To: lnc-business@hq.lp.org Subject: [Lnc-business] MOTION: Update Liberty Links page on our website One cool feature which has been on LP.org for a few years now but which looks better on the new site is the Liberty Links page – https://www.lp.org/liberty-links/ – which can be found by clicking on that title under the "Contact" header found at the bottom of each page on the site. Like the story on Save Scranton currently on the front page of LP.org that I mentioned in another recent post, linking to other pro-freedom organizations and websites is an important affirmation of our status as the Party of Principle – a party that isn't just another political party, but part of a larger libertarian movement which is made up of an ever-growing number of organizations and people in the United States and around the world who are fighting for freedom and with whom we stand in solidarity. However while our movement continues to grow, the number of fellow traveler organizations linked from our site has remained about the same since the feature was added in December 2010, going from 18 listings then to just 25 listings currently. [Thanks to the Internet Archive by the way for making this and so much other historical data about our site and many other websites available – see https://web.archive.org/web/20100601000000*/http://www.LP.org <https://web.archive.org/web/20100601000000*/http:/www.LP.org> ] I propose we expand our listings to reflect the growing freedom movement by adding links to the following 35 additional groups and informational resources, including many prominent movement sites that have been too long overlooked, to bring our total number of linked sites to 60 (a round number, divisible by four to nicely fit the formatting of the new site), and request co-sponsors for this motion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOTION: I move that we direct staff to add these pro-freedom groups and links to the Liberty Links page on our website (currently at <https://www.lp.org/liberty-links/> https://www.lp.org/liberty-links/ ): Alliance for the Separation of School and State – SchoolAndState.org Atlas Network – AtlasNetwork.org BitcoinNotBombs – BitcoinNotBombs.com Bleeding Heart Libertarians – BleedingHeartLibertarians.com Campaign For Liberty – CampaignForLiberty.com Center for a Stateless Society – C4SS.org Copblock – Copblock.org Economic Freedom Network – FreeTheWorld.com Electronic Frontier Foundation – EFF.org Erotic Service Providers Legal Education & Research Project – DecriminalizeSexWork.com Families Against Mandatory Minimums – FAMM.org The Free State Project – FreeStateProject.org Free Talk Live – FreeTalkLive.com Freedoms Phoenix – FreedomsPhoenix.com Fully Informed Jury Association – FIJA.org The Future of Freedom Foundation – FFF.org Gun Owners of America – GunOwners.org Independent Political Report – IndependentPoliticalReport.com The Innocence Project – InnocenceProject.org Institute for Humane Studies – TheIHS.org LewRockwell – LewRockwell.com Libertarian Rock – LibertarianRock.com The Liberty Radio Network – LRN.fm Miss Liberty's Film & Documentary World – MissLiberty.com LPedia – LPedia.org National Youth Rights Association – YouthRights.org Niskanen Center – NiskanenCenter.org Open Borders – OpenBorders.info Outright Libertarians – OutrightUSA.org Rational Review – RationalReview.com Restore The 4th – RestoreThe4th.com The Seasteading Institute – Seasteading.org Stop The Drug War – StopTheDrugWar.org Stossel In The Classroom – StosselInTheClassroom.org Strike The Root – StrikeTheRoot.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While our listing of libertarian-oriented groups active in the United States or worldwide will remain far from comprehensive with these additions, I believe adding the above groups and sites will showcase the scope and diversity of the freedom movement and help visitors to LP.org explore the movement and increase their understanding of and support for libertarian ideas. I expect that these groups and websites, especially the less-visited ones, will also appreciate the new traffic they get via our site, and be more favorably disposed toward the Libertarian Party as a result. But as with the article on Scranton Saves, that is not the main reason I believe we should do this. Expressing our solidarity with others in the libertarian movement is simply the right thing to do.
