When you say, "we are actively encouraging people to get a refund now." are you referring to communications coming out of headquarters, or LNC members posting on social media? The only thing I've seen officially concerning a refund was an e-mail sent to the delegates May 12, which included this paragraph: "If you purchased a convention package and you need to request a refund, please don't hesitate. We don't want any member of the Libertarian Party to put themselves into a tough financial situation during this crisis. If you are in a position where you are able to redirect that package as a donation to the Libertarian Party, we will use it to support having our Presidential candidate on every American's ballot and in getting the Libertarian message to the American people." When members do ask staff about getting a refund, they are directed to a website with options to request a refund, donate the payment to ballot access or the building fund, take half the refund and donate half, or apply the refund to a future convention. They're also directed to https://lnc2020.com/category/covid19/ for the latest info. A member wrote me about a refund. I asked to speak with him. The only reason he was asking was because "the chair said we should and seemed to pushing that."
He really did not want one if we are going to have a convention but said our messaging is leading everyone to believe we won't.
I have an issue with that.
A simple phone call about what our decisions actually were kept $500 in our coffers. Why are we putting out self-sabotaguing messaging?
