I regret any confusion. The list is compiled based on the list of delegates and alternates and then removing the people who have signed into a zoom training session. Prior to that email we were under 35% attendance. It is true that people who attend with a different email address than the one we send the zoom got this email -- hence my statement "no one with this email address...." It's also true that many people are unaware when they sign into zoom with their work email. I absolutely want people to attend at least one practice session. Having done hundreds of tech rollouts, customer training is the critical aspect in determining success. I provided the spreadsheet, broken up by state, to all the state chairs so they could contact only those we saw at risk as having not been to a training and encourage them to get training. My comment at the end, perhaps inartfully phrased, was meant to indicate that that the spreadsheet makes delegation chairs aware and allows the delegation chair to contact their group. I am doing everything I can to ensure success of the convention, and the fewer people we have who are logging into zoom for the very first time on Friday, the more successful we will be. Obviously the lists are controlled by the delegation chairs, and I certainly regret that people felt threatened. I am operating at breakneck speed, and assumed everyone understood that only states and delegation chairs control the lists. I will try to choose words less ambiguously. Please encourage everyone who hasn't been to a zoom training yet to get to the one this afternoon. --- Daniel Fishman Executive Director The Libertarian Party Join Us <http://www.lp.org/join> On Thu, May 21, 2020 at 11:35 AM Elizabeth Van Horn via Lnc-business < lnc-business@hq.lp.org> wrote:
I appreciate your perspective Richard. The Region 3 member was upset, and felt threatened. He also sent an email to Dan Fishman regarding this, and never got a reply

I can speak from personal experience on that as well. My partner, Jake, has attended two practice sessions from his account and responded to the please verify your email address email and then received this message on top of it. We confirmed his info with AZ and are very confused why he received the you've not participated email. We took it as a hiccup but I can totally understand how some members would be confused at this point. The one thing that put our minds at ease was the email from Dan that said he was registered and outlined Friday.

I'm very unhappy to get an email from a Region 3 delegate who reports receiving an email today from Dan Fishman, suggesting states might 'whittle down' their delegate lists based upon participating in Zoom practices. This delegate reports they have attended all but one of the prior "test sessions" held by Nick and the ED. But, they got this email today:
----------------
"Dear XXXX ,
According to my records, noone with this email address has signed into a test zoom for the convention. We're only 48 hours away! Can you make this one? Come in, raise your hand, and leave -- easy cheesy!

I'm sending a list to all the state chairs of the delegates and alternates who aren't attending any of the practice sessions so they can whittle down their final delegate lists.
Hope to see you soon!
Dan"

First, the email is information wrong, that delegate has attended Zoom practices. Second, the implied threat of a "whittle down' from their state delegate list is all kinds of wrong. It is way out of bounds for the LP national ED to say a list of those who didn't participate in Zoom practices will be sent to state chairs "so they can whittle down their final delegate lists." It doesn't matter if a delegate has attended ALL, SOME, or NONE of the Zoom practices. This email was wrong to imply that the delegate might be excluded for not attending Zoom practice. We don't tell in-person delegates they'll be excluded if not learning the convention methods in advance, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let that happen to a delegate in Region 3 due to Zoom practices held by national. Some of us work hard to let members understand the value of national. This can erode that value fast.
I hope this ill-advised email messaging is rectified. As this isn't helping our delegates, nor national.
Thank you. EVH
