In the training session I did last night a delegate said that their state had a meeting that night and decided they were going to ping people during the convention and remove people who weren't participating. On the plus side -- today the number of people who have never been in a test is only 330 of 1600. --- Daniel Fishman Executive Director The Libertarian Party Join Us <http://www.lp.org/join> On Thu, May 21, 2020 at 1:27 PM Joe Bishop-Henchman < joe.bishop-henchman@lp.org> wrote:
Right, I think "whittle down" was the flashpoint, everyone appreciates the practice sessions and the effort to make this work

Dan Fishman,
Thank you for replying.
This language: "I'm sending a list to all the state chairs of the delegates and alternates who aren't attending any of the practice sessions so they can whittle down their final delegate lists." Is wrong.
Nor, does that say "the spreadsheet makes delegation chairs aware and allows the delegation chair to contact their group."
Which you could have said. The difference isn't an inartful phrasing, but two different meanings.
I also got a message last night from a different Region 3 delegate, who said, and they quoted you:
--------
'Fishman just mentioned to an alternate that chairs are "aggressively kicking people out" and it's possible she'd be promoted to delegate
In the training I'm in.'
-----------
So, what I'm getting is delegates complaining that the LP national ED is saying, or implying, that delegates are going to be, or are being, 'whittled' or 'kicked' from their delegate spots. This is not a good look for LP national. We work for the delegates. Not the other way around. I know you're helping the delegates, and that work is much appreciated. The LP should've gone with some professional company, instead of this DYI on Zoom. I understand that you have your hands full in an effort to make it work. I understand that you'll, "try to choose words less ambiguously" in the future regarding our delegates.

I regret any confusion. The list is compiled based on the list of delegates and alternates and then removing the people who have signed into a zoom training session. Prior to that email we were under 35% attendance. It is true that people who attend with a different email address than the one we send the zoom got this email -- hence my statement "no one with this email address...." It's also true that many people are unaware when they sign into zoom with their work email.
I absolutely want people to attend at least one practice session. Having done hundreds of tech rollouts, customer training is the critical aspect in determining success. I provided the spreadsheet, broken up by state, to all the state chairs so they could contact only those we saw at risk as having not been to a training and encourage them to get training. My comment at the end, perhaps inartfully phrased, was meant to indicate that that the spreadsheet makes delegation chairs aware and allows the delegation chair to contact their group.
I am doing everything I can to ensure success of the convention, and the fewer people we have who are logging into zoom for the very first time on Friday, the more successful we will be.
Obviously the lists are controlled by the delegation chairs, and I certainly regret that people felt threatened. I am operating at breakneck speed, and assumed everyone understood that only states and delegation chairs control the lists. I will try to choose words less ambiguously.
Please encourage everyone who hasn't been to a zoom training yet to get to the one this afternoon.
