For the past several years I have prepared such a calendar to assist LPHQ in planning for various activities (especially press releases). I hope you find the calendar to be helpful. An open letter to the members of the LNC: As you may know from Mr. Longstreth's previous communications and the information put out on social media, I have assumed the role of Region 1 Alternate to the Libertarian National Committee. If you have not seen those communications, please allow me the privilege of saying that I am honored to have been chosen by the state chairs of Region 1 to hold this position for the next 5 months until our convention in Austin. Over that time, I am looking forward to a positive working relationship with the other members of the LNC to help define and achieve the goals of the Libertarian Party. After all, we are all in this together despite any struggles that our personalities may introduce. I do, however, wish to inform and manage expectations on how I will be interacting with the LNC in regards to debate, motions, and business proceeding. Chiefly, I understand that Regional Alternates are not full voting members of the LNC, and serve as a backup to the regional representatives. With this in mind I intend to mitigate the time demands of the committee by refraining from public debate and voting on all topics, with some notable exceptions: 1. I will discuss my views privately with Mr. Longstreth on all substantive matters. 2. I will provide a personal analysis of matters to any LNC member who requests my opinion. 3. I will fully participate in debate and voting should the Region 1 Representative recuse himself (not abstain) from a vote. 4. I will maintain decorum, professionalism, and civility in my written communications to this body at all times. 5. I will not personally nor publicly attack any member of this body for any reason, to include internal elections. 6. Should I have personal disagreements with members of this committee, I will make every effort to communicate with and resolve those issues privately. These are the standards that I will be operating under during my tenure as the Region 1 Alternate, and I felt it prudent to inform this committee of my intent. What I do intend for the remainder of my term is to strategize and assist the 11 states in Region 1 in their 2020 election efforts, consult with the chairs on possible organizational adjustments to affiliate's processes, and to redraft the regional agreement. None of these goals are directly related to the business of this body, and thusly will largely be invisible to the public eye. If any of the members of this committee take issue with my approach, I encourage you to contact me directly. In closing, I wish everyone Happy Holidays, and a productive new year. To make things easier, please post in this thread if you are sponsoring either/both - Rep Phillips move for an e-meeting to discuss the issue of the controversial donation and whether further action is or isn’t needed (my preference is this) - Rep Smiths move for an appeal of the chairs ruling that Rep Phillip prior motion was out of order. I’m sponsoring both in hopes one will finalized the issue so we can move on in the new year. My preference is this is handled in an emeeting so the public on both sides can air their grievances, we should probably bring a festivus pole for this one. Hopefully this thread will make tracking people’s support for either easier since right now everything is spread in different unrelated threads.
