The September End-of-Month Financial Reports are attached. The reserve rose to $84,786, which is above the target reserve of $57,225. Support and Revenue was $62,397 under budget for the year to date. Cost of Support & Revenue and Program Expenses were both under budget by $71,364 and $51,224 respectfully. Proposed Budget for 2020

On behalf of the Executive Committee, a proposed 2020 budget to be considered at the November 16-17 meeting is attached in both Excel and PDF. The budget is highlighted in cyan on the Operating Budget sheet. The numbers come from the Acct Detail sheet. An additional sheet having employee and contractor salary information, which we've always considered confidential, will be presented at the meeting. Total support and revenues is $2,343,400. Total cost of support and revenues is $855,700. Total program expenses is $1,487,700. This budget is balanced, that is no surplus nor deficit. We expect capital expenditures of $7,300 and will pay $26,434 toward the principal in the mortgage payments. Will receive $48,546 from the bequests held in escrow. These give a Unrestricted Operating Surplus (I think of it like a cash surplus) of $14,812. The total revenues are higher than 2018, but not as high as 2016, which was an exceptional year. Should be helped by having a development team. Except for the portions going to administration work, the pay to contractors show up on the appropriate functional lines on the Acct Detail sheet. In particular, lines 7010-10 (Development), 7310 (Affiliate Development), 7340 (Media Relations & Press Releases), and 7360-40 (Candidate Support & Training) include contractors. -- Tim Hagan Treasurer, Libertarian National Committee

correcting a Facebook falsehood

I do not know why I am unable to comment on Ms. Harlos' Facebook page, but since the subject matter is about what allegedly does or doesn't happen on this list, I am going to say something here to defend myself. Yesterday, Ms. Harlos told her Facebook readers that when it comes to LNC minutes, "Further, Ms. Mattson always objects so there is never any chance for auto-approval. She objects because she disagrees with my style. That is her prerogative but the LNC already voted that my style was acceptable so hers is a protest vote that makes it impossible to use the auto-approval. Didn't know that did you?" That is demonstrably false, and I don't know why she would say such a thing. This term I am only aware of ONE TIME that I objected so as to prevent auto-approval of the minutes until the LNC could vote on a potential amendment, and that was for the 7/3/18 minutes. Yet in a public forum this one time was falsely portrayed as "always" so that there is allegedly "never any chance" for auto-approval. The other times that auto-approval has not been used this term, it has been because the drafts were not provided by the required dates to be eligible for auto-approval. Just want to clear that up. -Alicia

Director of Development

I am happy to announce the engagement of Tara Desisto as a contractor as our Director of Development. She will begin work November 1st. In addition to having been the finance director for a Congressional campaign in 2018, Ms. Desisto has an extensive fundraising background, including spearheaded fundraising for programs at Harvard University. Ms. Desisto's education background includes a degree in Political Science and International Relations, and a course of study in International Politics at Oxford University. Dear All, I expect that members of the Libertarian National Committee will disagree with each other with respect. I expect that after the Libertarian National Committee comes to a decision on an issue, be it the purchase of an office or the choice to make a goal a certain number of candidates running for public office, that every member of the committee will either support the goal or at least stop trying to publicly fight against it after they've lost. I expect that every member of the Libertarian National Committee will be polite and respectful to the rest of the members and to the national office staff. If anyone is unwilling or unable to meet these expectations, I will happily accept your resignation from the Libertarian National Committee and wish you the best of luck in whatever future endeavors you choose.
