We have recently made a major change in how this email list works, with
everyone given mailboxes instead of forwarders, and changing the list so
that we must now send from those mailboxes rather than from our personal
email addresses.
It is not a given that everyone has successfully made the transition, so
I'm asking for all LNC members/alternates to reply to this message to
verify who has or hasn't figured out the new configuration. If someone
isn't receiving, they may just think the list has no traffic, and might not
know to contact someone about a problem. If they haven't tried to send
yet, they may not know yet if there's a problem. Some may need technical
assistance figuring out what they need to do.
Who is here and functioning with the new setup?
*Caryn Ann*: You seem to be attempting to email this list by sending to
the email address "lnc-business-bounces(a)hq.lp.org". That does not result
in a post to this list. That's an address that's used by an email service
provider to notify the list that a message is undeliverable. You need to
be using the email address "lnc-business(a)hq.lp.org" instead.

Dave, you can forward any of this to whoever is making decisions and however it helps.
I just checked iwth someone - to the best of our knowledge, there are no federal laws or limits about political parties contributing to Sen. Ebke's campaign since we don't have any limits in NE on state races. Also, we know the RNC absolutely has given large amounts of money directly to candidates in state races in Nebraska, so that's the precedent I'm going by.

David,
Many states have "limits" on contributions. Nebraska does not have any limits at all for state races. So, in theory, the LP could donate as much as they want to Sen Ebke's campaign, unless there is some federal law that prohibits an organization like the LP to do so. (I very highly doubt this, as I know the RNC is constnatly giving big contributions into Nebraska and other states with no "limits" on contributions).
Also, see my most recent email from this morning, where I'm suggesting we get $5k, but that the LP diverts additional funds to their own field program that will supplement ebke's field program - VERY exciting!

Forwarding to LNC business list:
If Mr. O’Donnell’s point about a $5,000 limit on LP contributions to non-federal candidates is correct, that would eliminate the possibility of the additional $10,000 contribution to Senator Laura Ebke’s campaign in late October, as suggested by Jeremy Jensen, Laura’s campaign manager. See discussion in email chain below.
I suggest proceeding immediately with my original $5,000 pre-primary contribution motion. The Nebraska primary takes place on May 15th.
I further suggest that we consider separately at the upcoming Denver LNC meeting, Mr. Jensen’s request for an additional $2,500 for internal LNC/staff post-primary support for Senator Ebke’s campaign. At the discretion of the LNC and staff, the $2,500 additional internal support, as suggested Mr. Jensen, could be used for hand-written postcards to Nebraska District 32 Libertarians. The postcards message could not only solicit their votes but, more important, emphasize that now is the time for them to volunteer to staff and lead campaign teams in support of an all-important Libertarian candidate that has worked hard to represent their District 32 interests in the legislature despite the personal vendetta by the standing Governor of Nebraska and his support for Senator Ebke’s opponent.
The bulk of the hand-written postcard expense would be postage. Mr. Jensen could provide the postcards in lieu of using personal stationary. Nebraska Libertarians have produced an amazing number of hand-written postcards printed by Mr. Jensen (Cutthroat Print) that will be mailed shortly to a broader range of voters in District 32 to boost Senator Ebke’s top-two non-partisan primary results and position her for running a hard campaign and WINNING a re-election victory in November.
Let us all work together to make Senator Ebke the first state senator elected as a Libertarian, an inspiring milestone in our quest for freedom.

Subject: RE: Ebke Request
Thank you, Elizabeth.
I met with Jeremy Jensen, Laura’s campaign manager, this afternoon in Omaha. Jeremy recommended that a $5,000 would be best for now (as soon as possible) to characterize Laura’s campaign as funded by small grass-roots donors in contrast with her opponent’s much larger contributions from well-heeled patrons, including his well-known political sponsor. After the primary, Jeremy suggests that $2,500 be approved by the LNC for use at the discretion of Wes for handwritten postcards or notes to be mailed just to Libertarians in Laura’s district. Those Libertarians could make the difference and could be tapped as volunteers for Laura’s post-primary campaign. If the LP does not already have the District 32 Libertarian list, Jeremy can provide the list, sample postcards, and sample scripts for use by the LNC and paid staff. Nebraska volunteers have produced an astounding number of hand-written postcards to be mailed next week to a broader range of District 32 voters in preparation for the May 15th primary. Making Laura the clear leader in the top-two non-partisan primary could make a huge difference in the November election.
Jeremy also suggested, if the LNC agrees that it would be appropriate and within budget constraints, an additional $10,000 contribution at the end of November that would be useful for a last-minute publicity blast. The additional $2,500 and $10,000 could be rolled into my current motion or into separate motions for later approval. I am comfortable with either approach although approving the $2,500 now would allow Wes and his staff to get a jump start on the District 32 Libertarian outreach effort. Even if $5,000 is determined to be the legal limit for direct contributions, as suggested by Mr. O’Donnell, the $2,500 for indirect campaign support should not be an issue. Thoughts?

Jared Hall had shared with me some of the Ebke campaign budget the other night, and it's very tight and frugal. They're doing a lot, with a little money. Also, noted that is that 5K sooner, rather than later, (even is speculatively a larger amount) would be immediately beneficial. I'd be in-favor of expediting 5K to Laura Ebke's campaign. If more money is able to be given later, we can address that later in her campaign.
It was explained to me that the this May 15th primary is crucial, as the top-two candidates move on, and there are three people running. Laura Ebke needs to be one of the top-two who make it out the primary heat. Money asap would be most helpful.
I understand that time was set aside for the LNC meeting in Denver, but what process do we have that would help us expedite the 5K to Senator Ebke's campaign? Some of the more experienced LNC members, please fill me in as to what are our options?

I so appreciate all of the support I'm seeing in these from the national LP. Its just overwhelming to read, and brings my heart great jot. I've never worked on a state senate race with this much out of state helpful support.
If I can make a suggestion or plea to you on this discussion: If you're going to be kind enough to make such a generous contribution over $5k, It would be very positive from a financial reporting perspective to receive $5k soon. Anything over a $5k donation now will potentially be used against senator ebke in the general election as a "bought and paid for by the LP" message from the Governor's consultant (I know how she works from her previous strategies). Earmarking any additional donation from the LP in late Oct or Nov would be wonderful. This is best case scenario for us, as we believe $5k is not enough for the Republican candidates to make a big fuss about, but an amount that means a great deal to us. I can promise you that we will take great monetary fiscal care of any donation that is made. Anyone on this email is welcome to call me at 402-610-2159 with any specific questions regarding budgeting, getting a campaign update, or understanding our needs for this donation and exactly how we will very wisely invest it to receive a return.
I so appreciate your thoughtfulness in all of this.

Writing in favor: I have long advocated that LP institutions offer small symbolic seed contributions to encourage bottom-up fund-raising by candidates and project initiators. This proposed contribution meets that criteria. Like Larry Sharpe, Senator Ebke has inspired us with her astounding fund-raising acumen and, along with Larry, set the standard for Libertarian candidates. While we are waiting to roll out our candidate support criteria committee, if there ever was a legitimate contribution to a serious, dedicated, and ethical Libertarian candidate in a critical race with a good chance of WINNING, this is it.

The revenues and expenses are running well against the budget so far this year and the cash reserve is still above the target reserve, but we do have much more ballot access expenses coming up. In my opinion, the LNC can afford a contribution, and the motion should include increasing expense line 60-Candidate, Campaign & Initiatives by the amount of the contribution.

The only LNC limit for contributions to candidates is the budget (which is zero at this time for this category) and our lack of a set of parameters for giving.
The CSC is finalizing our proposal for contribution guidelines for presentation at the Denver LNC meeting but I can pretty much assure members that Laura Ebke far exceeds our proposal.
I would ask the Treasurer if, in his opinion, the LNC can afford a contribution to the Ebke campaign at this time and from what budget line would it come from. I'd be happy to write and sponsor an email ballot which I would hope would be expedited and not wait the full 10 days.

Dear Liberty friends,
I am writing today on behalf of Nebraska State Senator Laura Ebke. We are entering the last five weeks of campaign mode before the Primary on May 15.
Senator Ebke has built a great team of qualified staff (most are unpaid volunteers) and field volunteers, encompassing individuals from all political backgrounds. The campaign recently opened two new campaign offices in Crete and Geneva, as her district is extremely large – 2,516 square miles - encompassing four whole counties and a sliver of Lancaster County (where the capital is located). Signs, shirts, literature and several pieces of campaign literature have been designed, printed, and paid for at a reduced rate thanks to one of Senator Ebke's Libertarian supporters who owns a print shop and is providing at-cost materials. 36 "Meet and Greet" events have been planned and advertised across the district that will take place in the next 3 weeks in more than 30 towns and villages.
Senator Ebke continues to make news, sometimes with absurd ad value (thanks to a friend in that field) for little more than her actions in the Unicameral, and also her monthly community "Political Brew" events held at a local brew house where she invites other elected officials to cordially discuss issues and policy.
Everyone is well aware of Laura's ability to fundraise for her campaign. However, with all that we still have to accomplish before the primary election, we are asking for a donation from the LNC. This will help ensure the printing of variable by-county door hangers for the rural counties that will include localized messages; help cover the cost of postage expenditures; 16 newspaper ads in the 9 papers in the district; a radio ad; food and other costs for our volunteers at our campaign events, including canvassing and phone banking; booths at county fairs during the upcoming season; and even covering the costs of paid staff, the CRM, data needs, and walking and call apps.
As a point of emphasis, Laura is the incumbent in this election, but Republican Governor Pete Ricketts is a billionaire whose family owns TD Ameritrade and the Chicago Cubs. His personal vendetta for Laura even before she became a Libertarian is well-known. This has led to him hand picking her her main opponent, a well-funded Republican, who is attacking Senator Ebke for her party affiliation.
There is also a third candidate in this race – another Republican who is supported by the local agriculture community.
As Nebraska's Unicameral is non-partisan, so too is the election. This means that only the top two in the election results will move on to the General Election in November. It is paramount that we all chip in to ensure a Libertarian victory, as this can be only the beginning!

I just checked iwth someone - to the best of our knowledge, there are
no federal laws or limits about political parties contributing to Sen.
Ebke's campaign since we don't have any limits in NE on state races.
Also, we know the RNC absolutely has given large amounts of money
directly to candidates in state races in Nebraska, so that's the
precedent I'm going by.

David,
Many states have "limits" on contributions. Nebraska does not have any
limits at all for state races. So, in theory, the LP could donate as
much as they want to Sen Ebke's campaign, unless there is some federal
law that prohibits an organization like the LP to do so. (I very
highly doubt this, as I know the RNC is constnatly giving big
contributions into Nebraska and other states with no "limits" on
contributions).
Also, see my most recent email from this morning, where I'm suggesting
we get $5k, but that the LP diverts additional funds to their own field
program that will supplement ebke's field program - VERY exciting!

If Mr. O’Donnell’s point about a $5,000 limit on LP contributions to
non-federal candidates is correct, that would eliminate the possibility
of the additional $10,000 contribution to Senator Laura Ebke’s campaign
in late October, as suggested by Jeremy Jensen, Laura’s campaign
manager. See discussion in email chain below.
I suggest proceeding immediately with my original $5,000 pre-primary
contribution motion. The Nebraska primary takes place on May 15^th.
I further suggest that we consider separately at the upcoming Denver
LNC meeting, Mr. Jensen’s request for an additional $2,500 for internal
LNC/staff post-primary support for Senator Ebke’s campaign. At the
discretion of the LNC and staff, the $2,500 additional internal
support, as suggested Mr. Jensen, could be used for hand-written
postcards to Nebraska District 32 Libertarians. The postcards message
could not only solicit their votes but, more important, emphasize that
now is the time for them to volunteer to staff and lead campaign teams
in support of an all-important Libertarian candidate that has worked
hard to represent their District 32 interests in the legislature
despite the personal vendetta by the standing Governor of Nebraska and
his support for Senator Ebke’s opponent.
The bulk of the hand-written postcard expense would be postage. Mr.
Jensen could provide the postcards in lieu of using personal
stationary. Nebraska Libertarians have produced an amazing number of
hand-written postcards printed by Mr. Jensen (Cutthroat Print) that
will be mailed shortly to a broader range of voters in District 32 to
boost Senator Ebke’s top-two non-partisan primary results and position
her for running a hard campaign and WINNING a re-election victory in
November.
Let us all work together to make Senator Ebke the first state senator
elected as a Libertarian, an inspiring milestone in our quest for
freedom.

Thank you, Elizabeth.
I met with Jeremy Jensen, Laura’s campaign manager, this afternoon in
Omaha. Jeremy recommended that a $5,000 would be best for now (as soon
as possible) to characterize Laura’s campaign as funded by small
grass-roots donors in contrast with her opponent’s much larger
contributions from well-heeled patrons, including his well-known
political sponsor. After the primary, Jeremy suggests that $2,500 be
approved by the LNC for use at the discretion of Wes for handwritten
postcards or notes to be mailed just to Libertarians in Laura’s
district. Those Libertarians could make the difference and could be
tapped as volunteers for Laura’s post-primary campaign. If the LP does
not already have the District 32 Libertarian list, Jeremy can provide
the list, sample postcards, and sample scripts for use by the LNC and
paid staff. Nebraska volunteers have produced an astounding number of
hand-written postcards to be mailed next week to a broader range of
District 32 voters in preparation for the May 15^th primary. Making
Laura the clear leader in the top-two non-partisan primary could make a
huge difference in the November election.
Jeremy also suggested, if the LNC agrees that it would be appropriate
and within budget constraints, an additional $10,000 contribution at
the end of November that would be useful for a last-minute publicity
blast. The additional $2,500 and $10,000 could be rolled into my
current motion or into separate motions for later approval. I am
comfortable with either approach although approving the $2,500 now
would allow Wes and his staff to get a jump start on the District 32
Libertarian outreach effort. Even if $5,000 is determined to be the
legal limit for direct contributions, as suggested by Mr. O’Donnell,
the $2,500 for indirect campaign support should not be an issue.
Thoughts?

If more money is able to be given later, we can address that later in

Laura Ebke needs to be one of the top-two who make it out the primary

I so appreciate all of the support I'm seeing in these from the
national LP. Its just overwhelming to read, and brings my heart great
jot. I've never worked on a state senate race with this much out of

If I can make a suggestion or plea to you on this discussion: If
you're going to be kind enough to make such a generous contribution
over $5k, It would be very positive from a financial reporting
perspective to receive $5k soon. Anything over a $5k donation now will
potentially be used against senator ebke in the general election as a
"bought and paid for by the LP" message from the Governor's consultant
(I know how she works from her previous strategies). Earmarking any
additional donation from the LP in late Oct or Nov would be wonderful.
This is best case scenario for us, as we believe $5k is not enough
for the Republican candidates to make a big fuss about, but an amount
that means a great deal to us. I can promise you that we will take
great monetary fiscal care of any donation that is made. Anyone on
this email is welcome to call me at 402-610-2159 with any specific

Thank you, Mr Hagan for the information. I greatly appreciate it.
I am also very appreciative for the attention and support Laura has
received from both National and individual members of our Party as a
result of everyone's support, social media shares, and word of mouth.

A contribution to a candidate would come from budget line 60-Candidate,

The revenues and expenses are running well against the budget so far
this year and the cash reserve is still above the target reserve, but
we do have much more ballot access expenses coming up. In my opinion,
the LNC can afford a contribution, and the motion should include
increasing expense line 60-Candidate, Campaign & Initiatives by the
amount of the contribution.

Jared,
The only LNC limit for contributions to candidates is the budget

The CSC is finalizing our proposal for contribution guidelines for
presentation at the Denver LNC meeting but I can pretty much assure
members that Laura Ebke far exceeds our proposal.
I would ask the Treasurer if, in his opinion, the LNC can afford a
contribution to the Ebke campaign at this time and from what budget
line would it come from. I'd be happy to write and sponsor an email
ballot which I would hope would be expedited and not wait the full
10 days.

As I know the limit is $5000, that is what is being requested. In

Dear Liberty friends,
I am writing today on behalf of Nebraska State Senator Laura Ebke.
We are entering the last five weeks of campaign mode before the
Primary on May 15.
Senator Ebke has built a great team of qualified staff (most are
unpaid volunteers) and field volunteers, encompassing individuals
from all political backgrounds. The campaign recently opened two new
campaign offices in Crete and Geneva, as her district is extremely
large – 2,516 square miles - encompassing four whole counties and a
sliver of Lancaster County (where the capital is located). Signs,
shirts, literature and several pieces of campaign literature have
been designed, printed, and paid for at a reduced rate thanks to one
of Senator Ebke's Libertarian supporters who owns a print shop and
is providing at-cost materials. 36 "Meet and Greet" events have been
planned and advertised across the district that will take place in
the next 3 weeks in more than 30 towns and villages.
Senator Ebke continues to make news, sometimes with absurd ad value
(thanks to a friend in that field) for little more than her actions
in the Unicameral, and also her monthly community "Political Brew"
events held at a local brew house where she invites other elected
officials to cordially discuss issues and policy.
Everyone is well aware of Laura's ability to fundraise for her
campaign. However, with all that we still have to accomplish before
the primary election, we are asking for a donation from the LNC.
This will help ensure the printing of variable by-county door
hangers for the rural counties that will include localized messages;
help cover the cost of postage expenditures; 16 newspaper ads in the
9 papers in the district; a radio ad; food and other costs for our
volunteers at our campaign events, including canvassing and phone
banking; booths at county fairs during the upcoming season; and even
covering the costs of paid staff, the CRM, data needs, and walking
and call apps.
As a point of emphasis, Laura is the incumbent in this election, but
Republican Governor Pete Ricketts is a billionaire whose family owns
TD Ameritrade and the Chicago Cubs. His personal vendetta for Laura
even before she became a Libertarian is well-known. This has led to
him hand picking her her main opponent, a well-funded Republican,
who is attacking Senator Ebke for her party affiliation.
There is also a third candidate in this race – another Republican
who is supported by the local agriculture community.
As Nebraska's Unicameral is non-partisan, so too is the election.
This means that only the top two in the election results will move
on to the General Election in November. It is paramount that we all
chip in to ensure a Libertarian victory, as this can be only the
beginning!

Forwarding to LNC business list:
If Mr. O’Donnell’s point about a $5,000 limit on LP contributions to non-federal candidates is correct, that would eliminate the possibility of the additional $10,000 contribution to Senator Ebke’s campaign in late October, as suggested by Jeremy Jensen, Laura’s campaign manager.

Hi all,

In my opinion, the LNC can afford a contribution, and the motion should include increasing expense line 60-Candidate, Campaign & Initiatives by the amount of the contribution.

Forwarding to LNC business list:
If Mr. O’Donnell’s point about a $5,000 limit on LP contributions to
non-federal candidates is correct, that would eliminate the possibility
of the additional $10,000 contribution to Senator Ebke’s campaign in
late October, as suggested by Jeremy Jensen, Laura’s campaign manager.
Jensen (Cutthroat Print) that
will be mailed shortly to a broader range of voters in District 32 to
boost Senator Ebke’s top-two non-partisan primary results and position
her for running a hard campaign and WINNING a re-election victory in
November.
Let us all work together to make Senator Ebke the first state senator
elected as a Libertarian, an inspiring milestone in our quest for
freedom.

Subject: RE: Ebke Request
Thank you, Elizabeth.
Thoughts?

the top-two candidates move on, and there are three people running.
Laura Ebke needs to be one of the top-two who make it out the primary

If I can make a suggestion or plea to you on this discussion: If
you're going to be kind enough to make such a generous contribution
over $5k, It would be very positive from a financial reporting
perspective to receive $5k soon. Anything over a $5k donation now will
potentially be used against senator ebke in the general election as a
"bought and paid for by the LP" message from the Governor's consultant
(I know how she works from her previous strategies). Earmarking any
additional donation from the LP in late Oct or Nov would be wonderful.
This is best case scenario for us, as we believe $5k is not enough

that means a great deal to us. I can promise you that we will take

Thank you, Mr Hagan for the information. I greatly appreciate it.
I am also very appreciative for the attention and support Laura has
received from both National and individual members of our Party as a
result of everyone's support, social media shares, and word of mouth.

this year and the cash reserve is still above the target reserve, but
we do have much more ballot access expenses coming up. In my opinion,
the LNC can afford a contribution, and the motion should include
increasing expense line 60-Candidate, Campaign & Initiatives by the
amount of the contribution.

members that Laura Ebke far exceeds our proposal.
I would ask the Treasurer if, in his opinion, the LNC can afford a
contribution to the Ebke campaign at this time and from what budget
line would it come from. I'd be happy to write and sponsor an email
ballot which I would hope would be expedited and not wait the full

This will help ensure the printing of variable by-county door
hangers for the rural counties that will include localized messages;
help cover the cost of postage expenditures; 16 newspaper ads in the
9 papers in the district; a radio ad; food and other costs for our
volunteers at our campaign events, including canvassing and phone
banking; booths at county fairs during the upcoming season; and even
covering the costs of paid staff, the CRM, data needs, and walking
and call apps.
It is paramount that we all
chip in to ensure a Libertarian victory, as this can be only the
beginning!

Hi all - It's Jeremy, Sen. Ebke's campaign manager again. Sorry to throw a wrench into the discussion, but I had a really phenomenal idea I want to share with you all while you're considering this proposal.
I spoke to David Demarest about what he wrote you yesterday before talking to Apollo about his concrete plans to bring a field team of 6-10 to Nebraska May 1-15. After that discussion, Senator Ebke and I had a thought for you to consider.
The biggest need in this campaign is tapping field work volunteers - knocking on doors, and boots-on-ground bodies to complete operational plans and distribute materials, etc. We have gotten beat on this front by opponents since Sen. Ebke has been in session all year. Additionally, the majority of our able body committed volunteers live in Omaha (2 hours away) or Lincoln (1-1.5 hours away). The Omaha and Lincoln LP guys are great, but they are a little green and inexperienced, and with the drive time, their ability to spend large amounts of time on the ground effectively is very limited. This long distance means we only get volunteers in small windows on weekends, and even that can be sketchy (big blizzard is happening this weekend, for example)
I spoke with Sen. Ebke late last night about Apollo's plan and field team. We both believe this is most AMAZING thing the LP can offer us, and means so much more to the campaign than a check.
Here's what I'd like you to consider: We would certainly love $5k cash to help pay for materials and postage right now. But we would encourage you to consider investing additional money into Sen. Ebke's race through Apollo's field plan. Give him a really great discretionary budget that will allow him to rent a couple of vehicles, possibly rent another Air bnb in the district that in addition can house some of our Omaha LP guys when they come to volunteer for several days instead of having to spend time on the road. I also want to pair up some of our green LP volunteers with these experienced campaigners from Apollo's team, which will provide great training for them, and content for the LP in your membership emails and organization updates. Apollo and I also want to tap into the 193 Libertarians in LD32 (only 50 of them voted in the '16 General, and I'm convinced most of them don't have a clue how important Ebke's race is to the national LP, because nobody's told them yet) as well as the 400 Libertarians in surrounding counties that we can attempt to activate. The NELP is committed to working towards finding new county chairs for new LP groups in our state, and we can definitely use this campaign as momentum to accomplish that. I'm very confident I can work well with Apollo to coordinate the details of adding to our bare-bones field plan to really make it something that produces incredible results not just for the Ebke campaign, but also using the campaign as leverage to encourage and excite local Libertarians, and create some really cool interest content for the LP.
Although I'm not a member of your board, I thought it was important that you hear it straight from Sen. Ebke and myself: A dream-scenario for us is to receive a $5,000 donation now, and for you to set a very well-funded additional discretionary account for LP expenditures for Apollo's field plan ($5-10k here would be a total winner!). I can promise you that I will closely work with Apollo to absolutely spend this money wisely and creatively consider the double-bang for the buck to not only see success with Sen. Ebke's campaign, but also to building and supporting the LP.
Thanks for your consideration of this plan, and please feel free to contact me at 402-610-2159 if you have any questions at all.
Sincerely,

"Move to contribute $5,000 to the Nebraska Unicameral 2018 District 32 re-election campaign for Senator Laura Ebke, and increase expense line 60-Candidate, Campaign & Initiatives by $5,000."
If this proposal can be handled more expeditiously at the upcoming April 21-22 LNC meeting in Denver, I will happily withdraw the motion.

Subject: Re: Ebke Request
Hi all - It's Jeremy, Sen. Ebke's campaign manager again. Sorry to
throw a wrench into the discussion, but I had a really phenomenal idea
I want to share with you all while you're considering this proposal.
I spoke to David Demarest about what he wrote you yesterday before
talking to Apollo about his concrete plans to bring a field team of
6-10 to Nebraska May 1-15. After that discussion, Senator Ebke and I
had a thought for you to consider.
The biggest need in this campaign is tapping field work volunteers -
knocking on doors, and boots-on-ground bodies to complete operational
plans and distribute materials, etc. We have gotten beat on this front
by opponents since Sen. Ebke has been in session all year.
Additionally, the majority of our able body committed volunteers live
in Omaha (2 hours away) or Lincoln (1-1.5 hours away). The Omaha and
Lincoln LP guys are great, but they are a little green and
inexperienced, and with the drive time, their ability to spend large
amounts of time on the ground effectively is very limited. This long
distance means we only get volunteers in small windows on weekends, and
even that can be sketchy (big blizzard is happening this weekend, for
example)
I spoke with Sen. Ebke late last night about Apollo's plan and field
team. We both believe this is most AMAZING thing the LP can offer us,
and means so much more to the campaign than a check.
Here's what I'd like you to consider: We would certainly love $5k cash
to help pay for materials and postage right now. But we would
encourage you to consider investing additional money into Sen. Ebke's
race through Apollo's field plan. Give him a really great
discretionary budget that will allow him to rent a couple of vehicles,
possibly rent another Air bnb in the district that in addition can
house some of our Omaha LP guys when they come to volunteer for several
days instead of having to spend time on the road. I also want to pair
up some of our green LP volunteers with these experienced campaigners
from Apollo's team, which will provide great training for them, and
content for the LP in your membership emails and organization updates.
Apollo and I also want to tap into the 193 Libertarians in LD32 (only
50 of them voted in the '16 General, and I'm convinced most of them
don't have a clue how important Ebke's race is to the national LP,
because nobody's told them yet) as well as the 400 Libertarians in
surrounding counties that we can attempt to activate. The NELP is
committed to working towards finding new county chairs for new LP
groups in our state, and we can definitely use this campaign as
momentum to accomplish that. I'm very confident I can work well with
Apollo to coordinate the details of adding to our bare-bones field plan
to really make it something that produces incredible results not just
for the Ebke campaign, but also using the campaign as leverage to
encourage and excite local Libertarians, and create some really cool
interest content for the LP.
Although I'm not a member of your board, I thought it was important
that you hear it straight from Sen. Ebke and myself: A dream-scenario
for us is to receive a $5,000 donation now, and for you to set a very
well-funded additional discretionary account for LP expenditures for
Apollo's field plan ($5-10k here would be a total winner!). I can
promise you that I will closely work with Apollo to absolutely spend
this money wisely and creatively consider the double-bang for the
buck to not only see success with Sen. Ebke's campaign, but also to
building and supporting the LP.
Thanks for your consideration of this plan, and please feel free to
contact me at 402-610-2159 if you have any questions at all.
Sincerely,

Subject: RE: Ebke Request
Thank you, Elizabeth.
Thoughts?

I so appreciate all of the support I'm seeing in these from the

Anyone on

The following motion has been offered on the LNC business list:
Motion seeking co-sponsors:
"Move to contribute $5,000 to the Nebraska Unicameral 2018 District 32
re-election campaign for Senator Laura Ebke, and increase expense line
60-Candidate, Campaign & Initiatives by $5,000."
Writing in favor: I have long advocated that LP institutions offer
small symbolic seed contributions to encourage bottom-up fund-raising
by candidates and project initiators. This proposed contribution meets
that criteria. Like Larry Sharpe, Senator Ebke has inspired us with her
astounding fund-raising acumen and, along with Larry, set the standard
for Libertarian candidates. While we are waiting to roll out our
candidate support criteria committee, if there ever was a legitimate
contribution to a serious, dedicated, and ethical Libertarian candidate
in a critical race with a good chance of WINNING, this is it.
If this proposal can be handled more expeditiously at the upcoming
April 21-22 LNC meeting in Denver, I will happily withdraw the motion.

(which is zero at this time for this category) and our lack of a set
of parameters for giving.
10 days.

This will help ensure the printing of variable by-county door
hangers for the rural counties that will include localized messages;
help cover the cost of postage expenditures; 16 newspaper ads in the
9 papers in the district; a radio ad; food and other costs for our
volunteers at our campaign events, including canvassing and phone
banking; booths at county fairs during the upcoming season; and even
covering the costs of paid staff, the CRM, data needs, and walking
and call apps.
It is paramount that we all
chip in to ensure a Libertarian victory, as this can be only the
beginning!

Dear colleagues:
I hope all is well with you. I am writing to provide some
information about a couple of matters.
1) In a separate message I shall send my vote on the motion to suspend
Arvin Vohra. While I believe several of Mr. Vohra's actions are
reflective of poor judgment, I am not convinced that the recent MeWe
post in question or his previous statements constitute a violation of
the certification (also referred to as the "membership pledge"). In
particular, I believe that the post in question was an attempt at humor
(albeit an attempt that failed badly), and I accept his statements that
he does not advocate violence against the state. (I have some
additional concerns about the wording of the motion, which I shall
discuss if the need arises.)
On Mar. 31, I sent a message to Mr. Vohra about the MeWe post. I
stated my belief that the intentional posting of the message in such a
place suggested questionable judgment, and perhaps an indifference to
the negative effect such posts may have on the LP, especially with
respect to some of our affiliate organizations. I also requested that
he resign from the LNC, preferably with immediate effect.
For whatever it is worth, this is one of the most difficult votes I
have cast during my service as an LNC member. I am concerned that some
of Mr. Vohra's statements have caused damage to the LP, and may cause
damage in the future. Thus, I understand very well why the motion is
supported by many people whose character and judgment I greatly
respect. I am also concerned that passage of the motion may cause as
many problems over the long term as it may alleviate. In most cases
when I have such uncertainty concerning a motion, I abstain. However,
in this case, since an abstention functions as a "nay" vote, I believe
it is appropriate to vote "nay."
2) A few days ago I received word that Adam Mayer, former chair of the
Libertarian Party of Oregon, had passed away. Mr. Mayer and his wife
Christiana were stalwarts of the Libertarian Party of Oregon for many
years. On a personal note, they were extremely kind and hospitable to
me when I had the honor of addressing the LP Oregon conventions in 2005
and 2007. I hope you will join me in offering condolences to the Mayer
family on their loss, and in offering thanks for their work for liberty.
As always, thanks for your work for liberty. I look forward to
seeing you soon.

Anyone on this email is welcome to call me at 402-610-2159 with any specific questions regarding budgeting, getting a campaign update, or understanding our needs for this donation

Jared Hall had shared with me some of the Ebke campaign budget the
other night, and it's very tight and frugal. They're doing a lot, with
a little money. Also, noted that is that 5K sooner, rather than later,
(even is speculatively a larger amount) would be immediately
beneficial. I'd be in-favor of expediting 5K to Laura Ebke's campaign.
If more money is able to be given later, we can address that later in
her campaign.
It was explained to me that the this May 15th primary is crucial, as
the top-two candidates move on, and there are three people running.
Laura Ebke needs to be one of the top-two who make it out the primary
heat. Money asap would be most helpful.
I understand that time was set aside for the LNC meeting in Denver, but
what process do we have that would help us expedite the 5K to Senator
Ebke's campaign? Some of the more experienced LNC members, please fill
me in as to what are our options?

If I can make a suggestion or plea to you on this discussion: If
you're going to be kind enough to make such a generous contribution
over $5k, It would be very positive from a financial reporting
perspective to receive $5k soon. Anything over a $5k donation now will
potentially be used against senator ebke in the general election as a
"bought and paid for by the LP" message from the Governor's consultant
(I know how she works from her previous strategies). Earmarking any

Signs,
shirts, literature and several pieces of campaign literature have

is providing at-cost materials.
This will help ensure the printing of variable by-county door
hangers for the rural counties that will include localized messages;
help cover the cost of postage expenditures; 16 newspaper ads in the
9 papers in the district; a radio ad; food and other costs for our
volunteers at our campaign events, including canvassing and phone
banking; booths at county fairs during the upcoming season; and even

It is paramount that we all
chip in to ensure a Libertarian victory, as this can be only the
beginning!
Thank you kindly for your time,
Jared Hall
