Why Mary Matlin is Registering as a Libertarian

Mary Matlin, a New Orleans resident, Republican strategist, and wife of Democratic strategist James Carrville recently announced that she was switching her Party Affiliation to Libertarian. As someone from the New Orleans area that has been suggested as having obtained more change of voter registrations than any other volunteer in the country, I wish I could say I had something to do with this. Alas, I think I think my status as the top Libertarian recruiter in the country will be quickly eclipsed by someone else. I think the Donald is going to take the title from me very quickly. I'm ok with that. REAL ok with it. With that in mind, I want to encourage those people in states where Party affiliation is officially recognized with your Secretary of State. Get some change of registration cards from your registrars and start putting them in front of people. My big secret of why I register more people than most is not that I am so awesomely persuasive. It's because I ask. I probably get rejected by people I actually might want in the Party more than anybody else in the country. The big secret is you just gotta ask. Let's all take advantage of this opportunity. Don't get caught up in a lot of long sales jobs. Just talk to people for a second. Make sure they are at least partially in the Libertarian Tent and sign em up. Don't get into long debates with people that say we are handing the election to Hillary. Point out real quickly that the GOP has done that..AGAIN! Mention that in 2 way polls Hillary beats Trump by more than in a race with a Libertarian(Gary Johnson specifically was the one inserted.). If they still want to try and blame us, move on. Now is our time. In states without the voter registration see if you can get people to become donors. In states with registration you may want to ask people not quite ready to give up their voter affiliation if they want to become a donor to the Party at some level. NOW is the time for us folks. If you are serious about growing the Party, this is the opportunity we have been waiting for. In April 2015 (an off year), the LP signed up only 106 new donors. From April 2015 through January 2016, the LP averaged 114 new donors per month. But in February 2016, after Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina held their caucuses and primaries, the LP saw 323 new donors. In March they had 546 new donors, and in April, after everyone but Trump, Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich had dropped out, the LP signed up 706 new donors. Ballot Access Fundraising - we need your help

Dear All, We're ramping up to the busy ballot access petitioning season now, which will put more strain on national party finances than we've had in the last four years. If we can raise sufficient funds, we are still on track to have 50-state ballot access for the first time since 2000. If you are willing to make phone calls to major donors in your capacity as a Libertarian National Committee member, please contact Robert Kraus in the national office and he can get you a call list of whatever size you feel comfortable completing. If you haven't done this before, maybe start with 10-20 names. If you love calling people and asking them for money, maybe go with 75-100. Yours in liberty, Nick

This seems an important phrase for those of us who make it our life's goal to see the most of real liberty.
