I've had two region reps request that I provide copies of the 6 goals the LNC adopted today. They are (in descending order of support level): 1. 1000 candidates in 2016 2. Take action to see that each state has operational affiliate by June 1, 2015 3. 300 candidates by 2016 trained in Who’s Driving 4. List of events and dates in 2015

Dear Wes: I hope all is well with you. In a separate message I shall send you a Word file containing a list of events and dates that may be helpful to you. As with 2014, I have assembled a list of events and dates in 2015 to which the LP may wish to draw attention. For example, it may be useful for LPHQ to issue press releases and/or state affiliates to conduct outreach efforts on or about some of these dates. I have added supplemental information regarding some of these events/dates. Several of the events are included because I know something about them, or because I suspect they will be of special interest to libertarians. Some events and dates are included at the suggestion (or request) of LP colleagues. Allow me to emphasize that the inclusion of an event does not imply that I believe it is particularly important, or that the LP should commemorate it in some manner. Similarly, the fact that an event is not listed does not imply I believe it is not important or that we should not commemorate it in some manner. Please note that while I endeavored to check the accuracy of the listings, in some cases I did so using sources such as Wikipedia. Thus, if you wish to use information on this list, I strongly suggest that you conduct research to ascertain that the information is indeed correct. (Some of the events sent to me by Libertarian colleagues evidently did not occur on the dates provided.) Please note also that I shall send the Word file to the LNC and the State Chairs' list. I hope my LNC colleagues and the state chairs' list subscribers will review the information and offer suggestions concerning additional events and dates (as well as any corrections that should be made). Hmmm - so we have me from the Pragmatic Faction, Mr. Wiener from the Moderate Faction, and Mr. Craig from the Radical Faction, all directly or indirectly asking that the Rand Paul meme be taken down. According to the LNC Policy Manual, we only have 72 hours to e-mail Ms. Mattson and ask to have the post and all traces of it removed. If my math is correct, that means we have until around 4am on Tuesday morning to do that. LNC Policy Manual Article 2, Section 2.06, part 5, number 5 "5) Assuring Quality Communications If a majority of all LNC members notify the Secretary of their belief that a proposed or actual public communication is detrimental to the image of the Party, such notification to occur no later than 72 hours after the public communication is published, the Secretary shall inform the Executive Director and Chair of this finding, and such communication shall not be further disseminated, and to the extent possible, already-disseminated material shall be promptly removed from the public sphere." Unfortunately, neither Mr. Hayes nor myself can "vote" on this matter. However, for those of you who are Officers or Representatives - if you think that the disadvantages of this post outweigh its advantages, please e-mail Ms. Mattson that you want this Facebook post removed from the Internet as per the above Policy Manual provision. While I absolutely do not support Rand..and I think the Paul's staff is less desirable than a rock sandwich, Ron Paul has done a lot to promote libertarianism. Many of us would not be here if it were not for him. To equate, the Paul's with the Clinton's and Bush's is misguided at best. One of the people that complained is from my own local executive committee and he had planned to become a national dues paying member and has specifically stated he will not be doing so now. In fact that was what he specifically contacted me this morning to say because of this. It's the bad judgement calls that people controlling our social media continue to make that is significantly hampering our ability to recruit. And at the very least it cost us $25.but I have a feeling it cost us a lot more than that. I am sure there are some that maybe like this..but this is such a clear net loser for us.I just have to scratch my head at what people were thinking. I have the original "picture" and also a picture one of the people that complained to me posted. We just can't get out of our own way..I realize someone will alway be unhappy, but there are some things that just are so clearly bad, but we did them anyway. MPP changes laws without electing people. The Libertarian Party and its candidates for U.S. Congress, Governor, and other offices, have been advocating for ending the war on drugs and particularly for marijuana legalization probably since its founding. In televised debates, in newspapers, and online, Libertarians point out to Republicans that ending the war on drugs cuts government spending. Libertarians point out to Democrats that ending the war on drugs protects privacy and civil liberties. I think a decade ago if you asked the general public what the Libertarian Party stood for, the most common answer might be "legalizing drugs, " followed by a snicker. The Libertarian Party and its candidates and volunteers have helped to educate the public, and to put pressure on other elected officials from other parties to change policy in a more libertarian direction. I'd love to have the Libertarian Party help sponsor this MPP 20th anniversary celebration. But I'm not inclined to advocate pulling funds out of our general funds for this purpose at this time. If any of you on the LNC think you have a contact that would be interested in contributing $3,000 for this purpose, that would be great. Let me know. The proposal from MPP is below and attached. LNC intro to Adobe Connect

I would like to schedule a couple of times for those on the LNC and staff to have a chance to use Adobe Connect so that when we have a need for it, we'll be ready. This will give each of you a chance to try out your combination of equipment and software and become familiar with how to use the system. Sometimes there are first-time connection settings to be tweaked (like telling your browser to allow certain add-ons to run on a particular URL). If someone tries and is unable to get in, we can put them in touch with tech support to figure out the problem before we need to use it for real business. You only need to try out your connection once (presuming all goes well), but I want to schedule two windows of time so that people who aren't available for one of them have a second chance. If I were to make the system available on: Saturday, Feb 28, from 6-7pm Pacific / 9-10pm Eastern and also Monday, March 2, from 6-7pm Pacific / 9-10pm Eastern How many of you (who have not previously tried it) would NOT be able to make ONE of those two times? If these proposed times don't work for a lot of people, then I can look for a more accommodating time. If there are only two who can't use those times, I'll just arrange a separate time for those people individually. You don't need to stay connected for a whole hour, but I will commit to being there for an hour at a time so people can join and leave as needed. Most people can see what they need to see in 10-15 minutes, but others will want to play longer than that. Again, please let me know if you would NOT be able to make one of those two times. -Alicia

This is relevant because Mr. Benedict is our Executive Director. Mr. Pojunis sent a private e-mail to the National LP ED and asked Mr. Benedict to call him. I just verified with Brett that instead of calling or e-mailing Mr. Pojunis, Mr. Benedict chose to immediately post the e-mail below to the State Chairs e-mail list. Although I would not use the word "disgusted", I still sympathize with Mr. Weinman's comment. The registration page for LPEX went live only in the last 48 hours, so it is extremely premature to publicly ask questions like "Are you going?" and "How many from your state do you expect to go?" Normally, I would expect the ED to call the LPEX organizer privately, and ask these same questions. If the ED did not get satisfactory answers, then, at that point, it might have been appropriate to send the e-mail below to the State Chairs e-mail list. And yes, I know I am giving the RNC and the DNC access to a couple of e-mails from our State Chair's e-mail list. Don't blame me - I was very publicly against the auto forward function for the lnc-business e-mail list. The fact that this is not automatically promoted through National is absolutely beyond me. The LNC promotes events like SFL, Free and Equal and many other NON-Libertarian organizations. So not promoting an LSLA, LPNevada and LP California event is absurd. There is no reason to explain the financing, unless of course you did the same with SFL, Free and Equal etc. Here is what I will tell you. I have personally taken the risk and personally signed for this event. I have made a big financial commitment to produce LPEX. No organization is on the hook financially, nor any risk associated with LPEX other than me personally. The LNC has no involvement at this time so how could there possibly be any risk associated with the LNC? The LSLA pledged money to LPEX and that information is publicly available as it is in the minutes. In return there will be fundraising opportunities for the LSLA during LPEX. Unlike in the past, I will be responsible for covering the costs of speakers, trainers, the venue, etc., not the LSLA. Hopefully that satisfies any questions you have. On to LPEX. The primary reason I am organizing this conference is to provide much needed training for Libertarians. Once I get the information out to the state chairs (probably by tomorrow) I would hope state chairs would take advantage of LPEX. Including the National party was probably a bad idea to begin with. Peter Drucker's Book - Part Two

At our New Orleans LNC Session last December, the Chair kindly gave every LNC member a copy of Peter Drucker's book "Managing the Nonprofit Corporation." I finished the book around Christmas time, and while I was reading it I made a list of interesting citations. Here is Part Two of my citations. (and this is the last Part). Page 5 "Nevertheless, non-profit institutions find it very hard to answer the question: What, then, are "results" in our institution? It can be done, however. Indeed, results can even be quantified - at least some of them. The Salvation Army is fundamentally a religious organization. Nevertheless, it knows the % of alcoholics it restores to mental and physical health and the % of criminals it rehabilitates. It is highly quantitative. For many organizations in the non-profit sector, to be specific about results is still odious. They still believe their work can only be judged by quality - if at all. Some of them still quite openly sneer at any attempt to ask: How well are you doing in terms of the resources you spent? What return do you get?" For example, I find it criminal that the National Libertarian Party does not publish a chart that shows the number of Elected Libertarians in office on January 1 of each year since the Party was organized. Page 142 "Results, are achieved too, by concentration, not by splintering. That enormous organization the Salvation Army concentrates on only 4 or 5 programs. Its executives have the courage to say, "This is not for us. Other people do it better." Or, "This is not really what we are good at. Or, "This is not where we can make the greatest contribution. It does not really fit the strength we have." I would concentrate on one program - more elected Libertarians. Page 151 "The most important way to develop people is to use them as teachers. Nobody learns as much as a good teacher. Selecting someone to be a teacher is also the most effective recognition. Whether you talk to salesmen or Red Cross workers, you'll find that no recognition is sweeter than to be asked "Tell us what you do to be so effective." We have almost entirely neglected our Elected Libertarians. I would be cajoling our State Affiliates to give their Elected Libertarians as many speaking opportunities as possible at state and county LP events, and directing potential candidates for local offices to ask their state's Elected Libertarians for advice. Pages 157-158 "The board is also the premier fund-raising organ of a non-profit organization - one important role it does not have in the for-profit business. If a board doesn't actively lead in fund development, it's very hard to get the funds the organization needs. Personally, I like a board that not only gets other people to give money but whose members put the organization first and foremost on their own list of donations. Page 158 "I very rarely have seen a truly strong board in co-ops, for instance, where boards are elected by the membership.Then you get boards which may represent this or that segment of the membership, but they don't represent the organization, at least in my experience. Problems are likely to arise on these boards, such as troublemakers who abuse the board to create a political platform for themselves or just to hear themselves talk." Page 191 "Creating a record of performance is the only thing that will encourage people to trust you and support you." Scott Lieberman
