I've had two region reps request that I provide copies of the 6 goals the LNC adopted today. They are (in descending order of support level): 1. 1000 candidates in 2016 2. Take action to see that each state has operational affiliate by June 1, 2015 3. 300 candidates by 2016 trained in Who’s Driving 4. Quarantine

I am struggling as to the libertarian/Libertarian response to this issue. Libertarians have been giving answers all over the map, and some have been more permissive of government action on this than, for instance, Obama. Others have given 'absolutely not' answers - but I don't know that the right answer is "your right to go to the movies trumps us not wanting an epidemic." Now, I think the panic about Ebola is based largely on misunderstandings - some deliberate, some not - of its potential for contagion, mode of transmission, and so on. But that's also no answer to the principle question. What if a disease really was as contagious as people think Ebola is? What would be the answer then? I'm bringing this up here because it's one of the most stark questions about freedom in society at the moment. I think the LNC should hammer out some position, and that this position should guide staff in interviews, publications, etc. I don't know what that position should be. Joshua A. Libertarian raises 100K

The population of Oxnard is 204,000 but this race is winnable with this kind of money due to the extremely low voter turnout in this particular city. LP web pages are not spam resistant

Starting about the same time as the current LNC term, volume of spam e-mail that I received markedly increased. As you can see from the example below, at least part of it is from the lp.org e-mail address that is listed here: http://www.lp.org/lnc-leadership (It has to be from that web page because I never use that e-mail address on my own). Otherwise, the spam might be coming from the lnc-business archives: http://hq.lp.org/pipermail/lnc-business_hq.lp.org/ Which of course has my main e-mail address at the beginning of each of my e-mails. Have other LNC members experienced an increase in spam e-mails since the Columbus Convention? If you have, perhaps we can ask Mr. Dixon if there is a way to further hide/disguise our e-mail addresses so that they are resistant to harvesting by web crawlers. Hi Beth, If I recall correctly, GOA has a history of leaving out Libertarian Party candidates, though perhaps not all the time. From time to time Libertarians have contacted them, but I just don't have time to take this on due to so many other battles and projects on my plate. I agree with Mr Hayes and Mr Pojunis on this issue. Unless, or until, the event calendar has a significantly larger number of events, it should be removed. In its current state, the page simply calls attention to our current organizational weakness. I see no need to do that. I would recommend that a link to the events page of each affiliate which has an up to date events page be added to the entry for such states on the "States" page of the national site. If we did add every state, local, and candidate meeting, it would look busy but be a mess. Reasons: I suspect few people find value on the national events page. It's mostly busy work to duplicate posting things there that are already posted at state and local websites. Often people submit things that most of us would probably find inappropriate for listing, such as upcoming Ron Paul events (not that I have anything against Ron Paul), etc. I'm sure you can imagine more. Eric Dixon is not at fault for the content and features offered. He mostly takes orders from me, Carla Howell, the national Chair, the LNC, the I.T. Committee, etc. Almost everything that needs to get published gets dumped on Eric, even if it's a bad idea, ugly, or a waste of time. If there is no objection, and I don't change my mind, this events change will go on my list of potential upcoming projects. It's probably a 2 hour project, but we've got many of those. #1 being finishing presenting our list of 700+ candidates for the November elections. I think it is a very good sign that the Republicans thought it was worth posting these videos on their web site.
